First half is much more interesting, in part due to two great characters who just... disappear. In particular I find Alec Guiness doesn't hold the comedy very well when he's driving, which is most of the second half.

BlurayRip HANDJOB.

This was surprisingly fun, the story got more madcap as the film went on until the final excellently done scene.

For a comedy, I found the heist parts very tense. Good bit of fun.

Generally fun comedy bank heist movie. The characters are in way over their heads, and the subtle humor (in both the understated dialogue and the physical moments) plays well even today.

A standout performance by Guiness combined with an excellent use of the framing device and a brisk third act makes for a very enjoyable film.

Okay, I guess I can really enjoy a heist movie. The operators in this one weren't carried to success by the force of their utter coolness. Alec Guiness was a down-right nerd, and played it brilliantly. Very fun flick, and surprisingly tense for being so light-hearted.

Cute caper that through the chase scenes kept bringing to mind the Blues Brothers

Dated but short, well constructed and amusing. The sequence coming down the stairs of the Eiffel tower was very effective.

It was amusing to watch these otherwise law abiding men pull off a daring daylight gold robbery. The story is very weak, and some of the comedy had a very British sensibility. I found the details of the heist just too convenient and lacking imagination. There are a few amusing chase scenes. Overall this movie is somewhat amusing but not at all convincing.

Entertaining and very well made. Guinness is really good and the caper is cleverly constructed with a solid ending.

Audrey Hepburn appears for only 15 seconds, playing a Brazilian girl... But anyway, this is a good and entertaining movie.

Eiffel Tower rundown was hilarious apart from the movie. Guiness reminded me of Allen which connected to Small Time Crooks. Minor fun.

Not as funny as you might think. Scattered amusing moments here and there, especially at the end, but mostly it's just a straight heist movie. However, it's fairly enjoyable anyway.
