This is probably one of the best book to small screen adaptations I have seen. The dialogue, visuals and costumes are all slightly removed from reality to capture the surreal nature of the books, while creating a show that looks and feels different, is well-paced, and that doesn't overstay its welcome. All the performances are great, though the characters can oft be annoying. NPH's Olaf is similar to Carrey's. Look away, look away. This show will wreck your evening, your whole life and your day!

NPH is great and the style and humour are pretty great too. It's a bit too slow at times (but it's aimed more for kids) and the kids' acting can grate at times, but this is a vastly superior adaptation to the film version - it works much better as a series.

Wonderfully absurd with a fantastic plot. Nostalgic for anyone who read the series as a kid.

From what I gather, this is a solid adaptation from the book series. I enjoyed it for the most part, although I do think it was drawn out too long so I can understand why the movie did the things it did.

Netflix's 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' does justice to the books and does the best it can with the original material. Neil Patrick Harris and Patrick Warburton bring their own twist to old characters and put some soul into the characterful TV show.

Although the narration seemed a bit much in the first episodes and it took me a while to get used to the aesthetics of the show, this reimagining of the classic book series is a definite winner that certainly holds its own, with a great, wacky sense of humour and a really good cast, from which the absolutely terrific Neil Patrick Harris stands out. And, especially in the second and third seasons, the show manages to get across all the suspense and drama in a very powerful way.

For fans of the books. This series will be deliriously enjoyable. Although some may take a bit of issue with the retconned plot twists from the later books being shoehorned into the plots of the earlier. Neil Patrick Harris is a performer inside and out. While his character is difficult to hate as we are meant to, he does everything he can to show he respects playing Olaf if nothing else. The visual style is on point and the comedic writing is on a whole new level.

Neil Patrick Harris is an absolute delight as the sinister villain Count Olaf. A Series of Unfortunate events is a weirdly dark comedy that turns a series of unfortunate events into a series of wild adventurws with three young children who carry their own larger than life personality. This to me always seemed better suited for television and season 1 certainly proved me right.

A charming silly dark comedy one would expect from the source material. The leads are all very good, as are the scenery and sets. It's a little slower at time for the adults but it's aimed at kids for the most part so thats forgivable.
