Not so subtle look at overprotective parenting in the digital age. Interesting but one of the weaker entries of the anthology series.

there's a scene in this episode where a young girl watches pornography and violent beheadings on a laptop, and this is portrayed as an incidental part of modern life. it's also what makes this episode so stupid: it's built on absurd contrivances in a hypothetical future about how technology can go wrong, but it never for one second seems to consider that it already has. the teen romance is cute and well-acted.

Rather horrific episode on how small amounts of initial anxiety can be exploited and intensified by consumerist capitalism in a way that ultimately leads to the destruction of the knowledge of how to parent, with all the proliferating consequences that inevitably follow.

What if the Pink Floyd song 'Mother' was made into a 'Black Mirror' episode, sort of re-using the technology introduced in 'The Entire History of You'? Here's Jodie Foster with the answer!

This one is disappointing. Black Mirror (Charlie Brooker) tackling over protectiveness, censorship, and, to an extent, home schooling should be awesome. This episode doesn't go nearly deep enough and the entire third act felt unfulfilling and pointless. Does some interesting things with the passage of time and some of the acting is very nice.

Back-to-basics Black Mirror. It's pretty good and it explores an interesting concept but I can't help but feel a tad disappointed - all a little safe really and not as fresh as I was hoping.

How far you can go with parental guidance?

This is not about being a mother or being a parent. This is just being an awful person. Also the whole cinematography is terrible. What characters do during this don't make any sense at all.

Neat little family drama. Liked the line about the product being discontinued for ethical reasons, made a nice change from this show's usual over the top cynicism. Lost me at the end though when it escalated things beyond a believable point for the sake of a climax.

Not bad, although you can't help but feel like it didn't really go as far as it wanted to or could have.

This episode poses the question whether it is useful to experience violence and use it mindfully to go against it. If you never learn what's wrong, how can you know what's right?

Competent, but it's lacking, and it's trying too hard.

This story could have gone so many places and it chose the least interesting direction.

Fosters directing is always missing something. But I can't tell you what I'm missing. Still, DeWitt is great. The writing, especially how it sets up the misunderstandings, is good. The points about parenting, control, trust and projecting are interesting, although not revolutionary. Only: Do you really need the technology element to tell this story?!

Feeling like a (rightfully) binned draft of The Entire History of You, Arkangel fails to expand on this cameras-in-eyes idea, giving us a rather dull, unoriginal story to sit through. Hinting at the possible psychological ramifications technological advancement will have on children, this episode decides instead to focus on an overprotective interfering mother who causes her teenage daughter to run away. Different era, same shit then. A strong contender for worst Black Mirror so far.

Felt fairly unoriginal despite using technology to relay the obvious topics. The first two episodes of this season have so far let me down.
