Definitely not up to his old standards, but you could do worse. Gets a little more personal than you might expect from him, as well.

He delivered a few good jokes, but then there was a lot of other stuff. Parts of it were a pity party for his divorce. I really like Chris Rock, but as usual there were a few hits and some misses. The laugh track was a little tedious. Not his best work, but worth watching to get a few laughs.

For a man in his fifties he's looking good (if becoming a little Cuba Gooding Jr-ish), and the first half of this show is timeless Chris Rock: fast-paced, witty, consistently funny. He then slows things down to talk openly about his marriage break-up and subsequent travails which, while being refreshingly honest, is not actually all that funny. Worth an hour of anyone's time though.

It's the most well filmed comedy special I've seen, it hits the emotional points while keeping up the humour, and Rock has a powerful stage presence. However, this just really isn't funny. Rock touches upon some very stale stand-up topics ("kids need bullies in high school LOL black people get shot by cops LMAO") without adding any funny new angle to them.

So much of Rock's material is reminiscent of his earlier specials, and the fact that they're still relevant today says a lot about our society.

The charismatic and energetic Chris Rock hits a home run with his first special in a decade. "Tamborine" is full of laugh-out-loud moments while making some interesting points on racial and sociopolitical issues. Truth be told, things slow down towards the end, the punch lines are farther apart and, although Rock gets into more personal subject matter, the jokes become less nuanced. But even so, this is a highly enjoyable hour from one of the top comedians of his generation.
