I've come to the somewhat uncomfortable conclusion that I've laughed harder and more often at the best of this than maybe any other series of the tens. The highlights (Foxx, Gervais, Broderick [!], to name a few) might be the greatest "unscripted" examples I've ever seen of the one thing that Kenney movie captured well: the giddy intimacy of funny people trying to make each other laugh. And Mean Jerry is deployed beautifully. Like when Colbert recites an entire quatrain of Jeff Mangum lyrics.

Are you bored Jerry? Why don't you take your beautiful cars and just fuck off?

I grew up enjoying talk shows until I was old enough to realize how much they were basically scripted. Whether this is truly riffing or not, it certainly feels like it, so it's a nice way to feel like you're getting to know these comedians. Definitely has ups and downs, but the good episodes are a lot of fun.

Love the concept and it's simplicity, however it's not the easiest thing to rate accurate since each episode relies on the guest. I love all the episodes with the comedians I love (Louis CK, Norm MacDonald, Chris Rock, Larry David, Bill Burr, ...) but the rest is alright and "watchable"

Most episodes are not great the farther on it goes. For its time though, for the first few seasons, it was fun.

Nice quick light peeks into famous funny people. It's not earth-shattering, but it's charming and kind of nice to see non-scripted funny people just bullshitting.

The idea of simplicity and honesty didn't come through intact.

I quite enjoy this, especially when he features someone I admire.

Dependent on whether you're into the guest comedian, the best are Larry David & Louis CK. Despite it supposedly being unscripted the editing still makes it feel forced, everyone's laughing way too hard at not so funny lines. Seinfeld himself proves the Top Gear fashion formula true, that is middle-aged guys really into cars have the worst dad-jeans dress sense. He goes the extra mile with those fucking sneakers though.

The intentionally boring and stupid premise turns out to unsurprisingly be boring and stupid. Would be better if the comedians weren't in cars or getting coffee.

Nice idea, some very interesting and fun interviews. Of course episodes vary intensively due to the different interviewees and their individual personas.
