A brilliant antidote to all the vapid CW-esque teen shows out there. Full of heart, frequently hilarious, and sometimes shockingly wise. The characters and setting feel so authentic you'd swear you're watching '80s home movies. Only a network executive couldn't love it.

It's hard for me to put into words how great this show is. Yes, it's just a small sample size of what could have been, as it only lasted 1 season...but what a fucking season it was! Forget about how many of the cast members went on to great things...this show perfectly encapsulates high school and the archetypes that we all know and love whom reside within. Easily my favorite series of all time...and I can say with both reverence and regret; this is the best fucking thing I've seen on TV.

This wonderful dramady with an endearing performance by Linda Cardellini is the golden standard of high school shows.

Wow, what an amazing run this show had. In one long 18-episode season it accomplished more comedy, character development and astute social observation than most other shows accomplish in their lifetime. I think I confidently say this is the greatest portrayal of White, suburban middle-class adolescence ever put on film and amazingly, it's still instantly relatable, even in 2016, and even if, like me, you graduated years ago. Don't let the Judd Apatow label fool you, it's definitely a Must-see.

I have kind of turned on Apatow in recent years, but this intensely real, funny, moving, future-movie-star-packed high school series is, outside of Friday Night Lights, still probably the best teen TV series ever made. Maybe the best screen depiction ever of the feeling of being an outsider in that weird ecosystem known as high school. I'd pick Tests and Breasts as my favorite episode, but Smooching and Mooching comes close. This show completely lives up to every ounce of hype. It's great.

So much heart to this show. Both incredibly funny and extremely emotional. The divide can be pretty steep at times and comes off as jarring, but that reflects how life is during the time that the show examines. The characters are very well written and I personally identify with them. I can see someone unable to identify with either the characters or situations being turned away from the show. I always had more interest in the Freaks than in the Geeks, except for Bill Haverchuck; comic gold

Maybe television's best coming-of-age series. It rarely made me laugh out loud, but I chuckled constantly and absolutely loved the character arcs. I was late to this show and I'm sad I didn't get to experience it when I was in middle or high school.

Wonderful slice of high school life with an obviously talented cast that went on to do mostly good things. Painfully short lived, another what if?

Encapsulates high school very well and has a lot of charm and funny moments. The best thing Apatow has done and will ever do and launched the careers of a lot of famous people like Franco, Rogen, and Segel. I think it's loved more than it should be because it's a very short series and got cancelled prematurely but all the eps are great and worth seeing.

Sticks much more closely to convention than its reputation might lead one to expect, but it's certainly one of the better TV series of its time.

Judd Apatow could have followed in the footsteps of this and become a 21st century John Hughes. Instead he decided to make a bunch of shit that really sucks.

There's a vibrant world out there that's humming loudly and you want to be a part of it so bad but instead you're stuck at high school. Sucks.

Cute but bland. I guess you have to be an american teenager to enjoy it. Being european, and an adult, I feel totally foreign to everything the characters are feeling throughout this series, both the freaks and the geeks. I actually feel the opposite of the desired effect: cringe. American high school culture is just an infinite amount of cringe to me. So puritan. Oh well. At least a lot of the episodes had a cute plot which saved the show from being nothing but overrated nostalgia.

A whole bunch we know from Pineapple Express, This is the end, etc, but so young. Real character development and good scripting. An underrated series.

I was always curious about this show considering the cast. I don't really know why it got canceled as soon as it did, but this is a fantastic show, and a lot better than you'd imagine. This was really well made and I would love to see some kind of reunion of these characters at some point in a movie perhaps, similar to how Apatow brought previous characters back for This is 40.

pilot was 88. then usually 80, some +-. it evoked a general feeling of care that Undeclared didn't, I think mainly because it has Lindsay. It's the most realistic high school show i've seen in a lot of ways, and that's why sometimes it reminded me of The Inbetweeners even though that's more intentionally exaggerated. It def shoulda had at least 7 seasons like usual lol but i wonder how long they woulda stayed in high school.
