It's comforting to discover through Metzger's segments that the far-right is laughably slipshod and ineffective, but seeing three generations of Gaedes---and three generations of brainwashing---is acutely depressing.

Very good TV documentary. I love Theroux's style, and it's especially visible here. It's almost like he's playing a game of chess with his interviewees, and these nazis are clearly no match for him.

Incredible interesting look into the lives of modern-day Nazis in America. It really manages to capture how people are indoctrinated into that belief system. Louis Theroux amazing ability to get people to open up to him about their lives is really put to the test here as his personal belief system comes heavily into conflict with his interviewees. Still he manages to get some great material and this is well worth watching to see modern Nazis as people, misguided people, but still people.

Tom Metzger being catty about who's hotter Denzel or Kobe. American Nazis are a hoot and a half. Musical racist thing another hoot: Just imagining some Brian Wilson going insane trying to make Pet Sounds over "JEWS GROSS< GRRR BLACK PEOPLE"

Theroux might be a bit of an acquired taste. His style is to feign ignorance of people's true motivations, even when their motivations are extremely clear. It seems a bit ridiculous, but it really makes people open up to him. Towards the end of his documentaries, Louis usually at least partially confronts his interview subjects on their beliefs. The most depressing part of this particular documentary is watching the indoctrinated, not to say brainwashed, children.

Theroux's style of documentary seems to be to just pick out an easy target and try to take a non-judgmental view. It's entertaining but not exactly groundbreaking or that informative. The Lamb/Lynx stuff was pretty boring to me as I have already seen Nazi Pop Twins, which handled that stuff much better.

Had to re-watch this last night for a more classic Theroux feel after watching his re-examining of Saville and I gotta say I still love this. It's a rarity that one man can keep you so entertained with such simplicity. It's like Bob Costas or Larry King but it doc form.

Just play the "Curb Your Enthusiasm" theme music anytime Louis tells Nazis that are being interviewed that he might be Jewish.

Tom Metzger should have his own TV show. I'm a mixed NDN Jew and I'd watch the shit out of it.

Should probably be viewed as a companion piece to Louis' doc on the Black Nationalists. Ignorance and hatred abound all over the place. Oddly enough I found a similar reaction to the blacks and nazis in these docs as I did the animals in Theroux's African Hunting Holiday doc. Read my review on that for more.

as usual with Theroux's docos, this is an up-close insight into the lives of these neo-Nazis and he finds a way to address their daily lives and their beliefs and how the two become intertwined. He seems a bit more forceful at times here, making too many allegations and seems too befuddled with their beliefs than the viewer is. Still one of the better documentaries on neo-Nazism (and I've seen plenty of them).

I mean, say what you want about the tenets of national socialism, dude; at least it's an ethos. While there's not that much wrong with what these people believe per se, we pretend to like our co-workers and neighbours, so why can't we pretend to like people of other races too? Maybe it's just that we shouldn't be so arbitrarily terrified of speaking ill of non-whites. Most people are lazy and stupid and raise their kids poorly, not just jews and blacks. Also, Lynx and Lamb are so qt.

Elevates itself beyond what could be a run-of-the-mill "here's some really weird and hateful people" by digging into its subject and showing us how flawed these people and their ideology is. Yeah, it's obvious the Neo-Nazis are stupid, but Louis goes and tells us: yeah, these people are around, but here's their leader - and he's straight-up delusional!

Louis meets more confused extremists, this time a rather humdrum collection of Nazi rednecks (think a dull American History X) - the mother of the singing twins notwithstanding. Another of his docs where Theroux displays the cheaper side of his interviewing style: dropping in inappropriately-timed questions; suggesting he's Jewish to draw a reaction; declaring he's just "the media" with no opinion on the subject then repeatedly telling them his personal views... Forgettable.
