The original tv series is quite hilarious. Mr. Bean is the closest we will ever get to the comedic genius of Charlie Chaplin / Buster Keaton in the modern era. It's hard to be funny without using words, but Mr. Bean found a way every week. Slapstick comedy at it's finest.

Never found this character amusing. I blame Tati.

I suspect that this is likely to show up on my Criticker Special Features-generated Most Contentious Rankings list. And that's fine. Admittedly, I usually prefer more refined comedy, but Rowan Atkinson is hysterically funny to me in this series (no no, this is not a Critickerape, I assure you), and I find many of the gags hi-bloody-larious.

I appreciate its technicality, but god-fucking-damn I hate Mr Bean.

I enjoy this as much now as I did when I was 5 as I did when I was 10 or 15....can't say that about many shows. Plus there's a nice nostalgic visual look with the early-90s simple setting.

Generous score for nostalgic reasons.

Jacques Tati, Buster Keaton and maybe Jerry Lewis rolled into one, but there's still something more to Atkinson, maybe something in the face. Atkinson is a fine comedian all-around, but Mr. Beans showed him to be the last great slapstick artist.

Never worked for me but the audience -like smug improv or shakespeare ones- tends to go into a strange mode where laughing at the right parts becomes a kind of obligation, it's strange to watch.

Very entertaining when I was 10, but all it would bring me now is cringe. Giving it massive slack based on nostalgia.

The bits with the exam and at the church are some classic Bean moments.

Mr. Bean is an iconic character and so are some of the incidents depicted herein. Atkinson displays excellent comic timing and ingenuity, his physical comedy being the backbone of the show. The writing in the first handful of episodes is very good, as the main traits of the character unfold in a series of very memorable setpieces. Unfortunately, as the show progresses they resort to just placing Bean in this situation or the other, this location or the other, with nothing new to offer.

This guy is funny in these episodes of Mr. Bean. He does all these funny scenes and it's like watching The Pink Panther as he is silent and does all these funny things in situations that go against him.

Mr Bean is clearly a psychopath, everything he does is for his own pleasure, including vandalism, violence and lying. He really has no redeeming qualities at all, except that he is not clever enough to be one of those "evil" psychopathic people, therefore he is rather entertaining. I quite enjoy this series, usually a good few laughs per episode, but at least the films actually gave Bean some redeemable qualities, though they may be weak on jokes, they make Bean a much nicer character.

Probably the first comedy show I ever watched. I've always been amused by it and sometimes even thrilled by the slapstick (particularly of the vehicular kind), even though I get more laughs out of words than physical antics. A wonderful comedy show that so effortlessly made Bean seem so sympathetic, so antagonistic, and so relatable.
