it's somehow really rattling my cage just how offensively mediocre you get away with these days. and what it means for any standard of quality in storytelling. if you've ever despaired creating anything that's compelling and checks out in both tone and continuity, i'd expect watching something as high budget/low effort as this would make you sick, too. seriously, where are we headed?? if it wasn't for a handful of filmmakers we might as well shut down anything besides tik tok.

Steering the franchise in this direction makes a whole lot of sense, and I'm having fun tagging along on adventures with Jude Law's jedi-ish pirate, a cute little elephant creature and some other thankfully non-grating children. Might just be a good starting place for my own kids to finally get into Star Wars. (1 season)

Better than average for these star wars shows. Fleshed out characters, an exciting array of aliens, and a mostly intriguing story. It does feel like a show meant to be 5 of 6 episodes instead of 8, or that it needed to be even longer than 8 to get their characters where they needed to be. It's time for these shows to break away from standard 8 eps.

Take all the pirate tropes and throw them into space? Maybe, but the hidden planet idea was kinda neat.

Skeleton Crew doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not: it’s a light, youth-oriented series with a nostalgic 80s vibe and a sense of group adventure that feels familiar. It doesn’t try to be Andor or The Mandalorian, and that’s fine. It takes a different route, aiming to hook younger viewers into the Star Wars universe through friendship, exploration, and that feeling of discovering the galaxy for the first time. At times it brings to mind The Goonies, Stranger Things, or even E.T. —and I don’t

Children's movies don't have to be illogically stupid, but this one is. And this is a high budget POS. It's cute though, and fits in with the other POS Star Wars movies.

A little too contrived if you're not a kid, but enjoyable enough to see through once.

goonies in space. Loses a bit of steam towards the end. It's still disney sanitized, but looks visually better than most star wars stuff nowadays.

Has it's moments, but not enough. The start and the end are weak.

Not as good as Acolyte, but leagues above Obi-Wan.

Meh. It was ok, sort of fun. But not great. And last episode was weak.

Feels kind of Goonies like in which a group of kids go on an adventure with many obstacles, including some booby traps, along the way. Maybe Disney has decided to make stuff for kids again, which would be great. Overall a decent show for the family that stands alone in the Star Wars universe.

Fairly light and cheesy and occasionally a bit daft blend of old school Amblin Entertainment-esque "kids on an adventure" energy and Star Wars that nevertheless has its charms. Fun change of pace that the villains are neither Imperials or Sith trying to the rule the galaxy but just straight up pirates looking for a payday, kind of like if Jabba was the main villain. Good special effects for a TV show; I could barely tell if/when they were shooting in the Volume most of the time.

Really likeable and an interesting direction for the franchise to step into. It keeps itself fairly simple and is cast really well. Had fun with this and would happily come back for more.

Aside from it obviously being aimed at kids, once you get past the first couple of episodes there's actually a surprisingly good story behind it.

It's not bad but I guess I'm not the target audience any more. Your children will probably love it and ignore the many potholes and odd character decisions.

Interesting so far. Very cute, too.

Some children are very stupid. This has some interesting and entertaining elements but it feels like they're abandoning adults to appeal to the next generation of consumers....er...viewers. Good for Disney, going back to the golden teet one more time. I'm sure this will be the series that makes it.
