"Wanted" is as predictable as a daytime soap opera with sequences that scream their arrival about a good 10 minutes earlier, let alone the actual story. After a 50 odd year career, Terence Stamp still acts as well as a shower curtain. I give all 9 points to McAvoy's torso only.

Apparently one of the writers of the book wrote Kick-Ass and Kingsman. This one is definitely more over the top and absurd, but it fully embraces its ridiculousness. This isn't for you if you can't handle that. I personally had a good time with it, and this is probably as good as Bekmambetov is gonna get to be honest. He's a good director. His screenplays are ho-hum. Good effects and turn from McAvoy. I certainly don't think it's one of the worst movies ever made. It's quite entertaining.

Despite a cool premise this movie fails miserably. The characters are annoying and completely unlikable. The acting ranges from mediocre to bad (but in fairness it seemed like some just weren't trying). The cinematography is over-stylized and suffers from the annoying Zak Snyder effect of random bits of slow-mo meshed in normal time. There are a few cool action scenes but nothing you haven't seen before in The Matrix, Shoot 'Em Up or a Zak Snyder movie. Not worth the time.

I'm basically gonna compare this to Shoot 'em Up, because it caters to the same audience in me. Completely over the top, physicsbreaking action and style masking a pretty silly plot with no substance. But, just like Shoot em Up, the action more than makes up for it. They gave Timur Bekmambetov a legit budget, and he made it shine. The stunts and effects were jaw-dropping. Also, it's goddamn hilarious. Totally satisfying. I was grinning like an asshole the entire time.

Take The Matrix with Shoot 'Em Up (minus the humour) and a dash of Fight Club and you've got Wanted. Granted it's not as good as any of these films but it's entertaining on an absurdly over-the-top level. Personally I enjoyed this more than the comic which, like the movie, is just a testosterone laden absurdity but was far more teen-angsty. I guess the film does offer a commentary on unending loyalty to men only out for personal gain but really that takes a pretty big back seat to action.

After you put this movie in, you may be slightly confused. I encourage you to leave the film in, it is definitely worth it. For action seekers, this movie is perfect. Based on the life of an assassin, this movie stretches the impossible and leaves you in awe through many scenes. This movie is full of action and will hold you to your seat waiting to see what will happen next. I suggest this movie to anyone who doesn't mind the occasional curse word in exchange for intense action displays.

It really looks great, awesome, superb, but on the other hand, the story isn't really a story. It's actually more some sort of lame excuse to shoot and kill as much as possible in a film.. But.. That's ok in this one! All we want here are effects; action and shooting, and that's what we get!

I might have gone into this with different expectations if I'd known it was based on a comic - seems obvious after the fact. It is entirely ridiculous, but in a fun, violent way, and there are plenty of likeable moments dotted throughout the film. The cast was really good. I just didn't feel particularly entertained by it. Maybe I was just a bit cranky. I'll try and give it another shot.

This movie somehow finds a way to walk a very thin line of being arguably the most entertaining film of all time, and yet still delivers an extremely intriguing premise. At no point does it even seem to threaten to lose its balance walking this line either. I have never in my life been so pleasantly surprised at the conclusion of a film This one now rests as one of my favorites of all time, and that is not a compliment I am willing to just toss around lightly.

Like Office Space and Fight Club, it exploits feelings of emasculation. Typically, my response would be "Get over it," but Wanted gets a few nice fights out of it at least and, with Jolie, introduces a femme fatale who is ultimately much more exciting than anything else on the screen.

The trailers make Wanted out to be maybe the worst movie ever made... or at least close to it. But really, Wanted is actually pretty cool. The storyline is simple but it works, and it's familiar enough where you really don't need to pay attention to anything but the stylish over-the-top action sequences that are both well-choreographed and well shot. Leads for a good start to what may become a good franchise but will probably end up much, much worse in its definite sequels.

Wanted is a stupid movie. It's not a bad movie, hell it's even good, but it's still stupid. Amidst all of the stupid there are a handful of crazy, death-defying action scenes that make this movie worth the ride. James McAvoy fits the role nicely, Angelina Jolie is hot and blows up shit, Morgan Freeman says "fuck" a couple of times, and a lot of heads explode. If that sounds interesting, by all means go and see it.

"Wanted" makes more use of it's stylish action and characters than its surface would have you believe. The movie works as an interesting hybrid of "The Matrix" and "Fight Club," an ultraviolent blood-spattering flick that is uber-obsessed with violence and slow-motion camera trickery. And I will say, it's well-acted, exciting, the plot is interesting, and while somewhat familiar, it's quite a ride that knows how to entertain.

Forget bullet dodging, bullet curling is the sport of the day. After trailer into the eye and guts candy at the beggining I was drawn off by the cubicle guy getting Potter&Neoized. I got hard again after action picked back on and enjoyed most of the action design madness. All the Ffraternity stuff is not much better than late Jumper though. McAvoy has a substantial presence I've seen him pulling through two totally different movies. Jolie was yummy, Freeman as the usual cool explanation guy.

I was curious to see what can Bekmambetov do with Hollywood money and, I have to say, left the cinema very satisfied. It's basically still his David-Fincher-on-cocaine routine, but this time it's executed with so much confidence and grace that a new style is born (what should we call it, sur-action?). Pure brainless entertainment, even if it is a bit too slow in the second act, rolling over you with all the subtlety of a Russian tank.

Guilty pleasure, and the ranking is augmented by my LOVE for Angie. But dammit, this whole film is a case study in indulgence. Over-the-top, pretty satisfying plot twist, and Freeman going all Samuel L. Jackson ("Shoot this mothafucka!"). Some people "got their feelings hurt" by the little pot-shot at the end of the flick, but guess what? You chose to spend $10 and a couple hours satisfying your own perverse need to be entertained instead of doing something more worthwhile. Suck it up, princess.

I saw this with a bunch of action-savvy mates of mine and we all saw at least one cool new action movie convention that we'd always wanted to see in an action film. The morality about the questionable "loom of fate" is initially silly, but I think it gets explained pretty solidly. McAvoy's character is relatable through some well-written and contemporary filmic scenes, but his rise to action-star is only by "chosen one" luck which undermines the self-righteous final line.

FIGHT CLUB/MATRIX mash-up is fun to start with, but has an icy cold ugliness at its core which makes the unnecessarily convoluted plot, and unpleasant characters, difficult to connect with or find particularly endearing. Some well designed car chases are the highlight, gleefully leaning in to their absurdity, and Jolie and McAvoy do their best to bring some levity to the situation. Only odd note: why drag Stamp into it and do virtually nothing with him?

Utterly garbage. It borrows all its elements (which I don't mind), but also copies complete action and fighting scenes. It doesn't follow it's own logic, and this becomes very annoying if your trying very hard to believe the bullit-time and bull(sh)it-bending gimmick. Also it has some major gaps in the plot and time-frame. This film certainly has its graces. Some of the scenes depicting Wesley's rise to power are hilarious and the action scenes are utterly astounding but instead of being brainlessly fun a la Commando, it hides its lack of intelligence in an air of seriousness that just makes you hate how stupid the plot really is. It'd be a helluva lot better if it just winked at you every once in a while and said, "Hey. It's stupid action. Chill out and enjoy the stuff that is blowing up or getting killed."

As an exercise in movie pyrotechnics, this is an incredible experience. Unfortunately, the story is insultingly ridiculous. Unbelievable. Unrelenting. Gratuitous. Visceral. Choose your adjective--Wanted is an action powerhouse from start to finish, albeit at a price: blood flows often and freely here, and the sheer level of violence is sometimes tough to stomach for today's PG-13-reared audiences. Plot is almost an afterthought here, almost as if the filmmakers needed a vehicle by which to showcase the incredible visuals.

McAvoy is lots of fun, but Jolie seems to have been relegated to cinematic furniture. Utterly ridiculous, but that's not a bad thing. Wanted focuses on being entertaining, at which it succeeds, but only if your suspension-of-disbelief gene is thoroughly capable. Nevertheless, more could have been done to give it some plausibility without costing any entertainment value, and Morgan Freeman really seems out of place in an action film that feels aimed at hormone-fueled schoolboys.

McAvoy sounds like a cartoon character, the reasoning behind the assassinations just didn't work, at times it's vulgar for vulgars sake, and Jolie puts out another astonishingly wooden performance, That being said, it was utterly entertaining and a surprisingly pretty film.
