Gory neon-drenched horror that doesn't really do anything new, but makes few missteps either. I enjoyed the dreamlike atmosphere and riding that unnerving-anticipation-wave for whatever messed up thing would be revealed next. Some of the payoffs should've been clearer or stronger, making this a bit forgettable. But I hoped for a nightmarish scenario and I saw a recently blinded dude being forced to hump a moist-animal-skull cultist lady until he died so, erm, you know, mission accomplished!

This film contains some of the most pathetic armed police officers I've ever seem. Generic freaky imagery, bland characters, average to decent practical effects and a rambling paper thin story kept me from really getting much out of this. That being said satanic/cult films are not really my thing.

Best (or the only) Turkish horror movie made in the tradition of classical Western gore or slasher movies so far. Evrenol successfully builds the atmosphere of a nightmarish and therapeutical odyssey of the cops. The vacant building from Ottoman era and male-dominated violent attitude of Turkish police superseded by something even more grotesque, makes this one even political. Besides, it's a shame that Turkish audience simply ignored this worthy try.

This can be broken down into three elements: the buildup to the grisly last act, the last act itself, and the inter-cutting of the backstory/Freudian symbolism. The three gel into an interesting, albeit thin, whole. With that said, I won't deny that the bulk of my enjoyment came from the gruesome finale. The steady buildup and the thematic touches were icing on the cake. But if I'm being honest, it's the eye-gouging, throat-slitting, disemboweling finale that makes this worth watching.

Effectively made horror film (with a cleverly twisty narrative) that intrigues the audience with its vaguely terrifying opening scene, engages them with the police and how they interact and the sort of similarities they have with each other, then it haunts them with some creepy night-time imagery as the raid begins, then it outright disgusts them with some proper gorror porn. Not quite as deep as it suggests, though it is as fun as it is surface-level.

Yes, the gore effects are good, but not mindblowingly so (The Void had better ones!) and it's a bit of a slog to get to the money shots at the end. Cast felt pretty indistinct from each other.

The movie is overfilled with unfocused closeups on various body parts, it's very annoying. Seems like authors were trying to look unusual or even innovative by constantly screwing up with camera angles, colors, anything, but for the most part they've failed miserably. Several shots looks well enough, though, and one or two of them are very beautiful looking. The plot is too vague and serves only as an excuse to get into an action, but pretends still. This one should've been a short film.

Cops too macho for their own good get trapped in hell. Could have done more with that setup, but I like the Fulci/Barker influences, the gore (and there's a lot of that) is well-made, and it spins a pretty effective nightmarescape.

An excellent homage to so many classics. It builds atmosphere from its Turkish-style Tarantino intro and slowly unravels into madness Hellraiser/Apocalypse Now/Event Horizon style. A well-crafted horror film that never pulls any punches in its death-march to the inevitably fucked up conclusion.

I agree with all the positive reviews for Baskin when applied to the third act. It was crazy. I finally understood why people are recommending this. The keyword in the previous sentence is finally. I was disinterested in most of the first two acts.

Baskin has some fantastic horror moments, reminiscent of the Hellraiser films or perhaps the Silent Hill games. Unfortunately, the story and characters aren't very interesting. Baskin doesn't really go anywhere but it looks pretty awesome not getting there.

Wish I'd seen the 13-minute 2013 short film this is based on instead, because they was a big yawn trying to be shocking.

* If I had known it was a gore movie, I might've liked it more. I just thought it was a horror film so after the first half I was really bored, I do not like gore films..
Well directed and will open doors for its director but not a good watch if you don't enjoy the genre.
