Let's see... Torture porn without torture or porn. So that makes it... Yeah. Though, a moderately hot, yet perpetually over-clothed model is forced to drink an ear through a funnel, so I guess that's worth something, no?

Top badass moment? All that quiet-loud-quiet banging and crashing, plus very-bright-lights on and off lots, must have increased sales of Anadin. (Other painkillers are available.) Felt quite sorry for my remote’s volume button. This movie is the unwanted offspring from a one-night stand between Big Brother and Saw. But why did Jennifer make so much fuss about drinking the eyes and ears smoothie? It looked like the sort of thing you can buy in any McDonalds. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

A vile, reprehensible film that starts out ugly and base but continues, surprisingly, in a very stupid and cliche fashion. The shock of it was who directed this, which I had no idea until the end credits. This truly is the definition of torture porn. Yet at the end, I did ask myself the question, which the filmmakers were not smart enough to pose, is murder for revenge's sake any more defensible than murder for pleasure? Truly one of the worst films I have ever seen in many, many regards.

I blame the success of Saw. This is what we get now. One film after another about torture, manipulation and gruesome death.

Just plain disgusting and distasteful, but it isn't disturbing, which would imply that something was good in this movie.

Very, very intensive, good editing, excellent choise for leading actress. Outside world is pretty outside in this story. The other captive is the worst link in here. Well, maybe except the twist in the end, which is not a surprise at all. Claustrophobic feeling is okay, but more closer the end you get, more sure you are that there is not much of reasons for everything.

Roland Joffé should probably have called it quits after "The Killing Fields".

Behold, a movie that almost made me stop wanting Elisha Cuthbert on the same planet as me.

Strip "Hostel" and "Saw" of gore and context but leave the propensity for the latter's unsatisfying "twist" endings and you get something as deathly boring and inert as this film.

Another movie in torture horror that falls really flat. Not only does it fall flat, but it is annoyingly predictable. I do like the cast that was used as I was a fan of Pruitt Vince since he was on the X Files and I like Elisha Cuthbert. But this doesn't bring anything new to the genre, but than again, no one really does and that is why the genre is fading fast. It is a way to earn some quick cash. But I didn't have high expectations for this and that is what I got. Kind of a waste.

This movie is the classic example of something that sounds good on paper but fails when it comes to executing it. I was generous with my rating for the simple fact this movie could have been so much better if this or that would have happened. points for trying

Lacking scares or psychological insight, Captivity is a distasteful entry in the 'torture porn' subgenre.

This really is a turkey of the highest order, and the fact that it's directed by Roland Joffé, who, in my opinion, is a director of the highest quality, (he did, after all, give us 1987's The Killing Fields) doesn't help. But I'll tell you why else this movie is a total loss. First, the story is paper-thin and doesn't make sense; second, the characters are some of the hardest to give a hoot about that I've ever seen; and third, the acting is genuinely bad. It really isn't worth bothering with.

An ok thriller but nothing special, and the fact that it's not gory enough for those who like to see gore and too disturbing for those who don't probably leaves it without much of an audience.

Crappy premise with an execution that is even worse. What more can be expected from Hollywood horror these days.

God, this is one of the most contemptible, ignominious, disreputable and degenerately deteriorating movies ever. Captivity is indefensible for all of its flaws, and anybody who finds this measly and reprehensibly condemnable slightly good does not require any contemplation or furtherance. Roland Joffe is a terrible filmmaker, and I hope he rots.

Lots of extra points for trying to make a good shocking story. At least Elisha Cuthbert was pretty cute. The production quality is very high. The horror story was full of holes and fantasies but still moderately worth watching. It would have been lots better if they had shown the fate of the other 6 girls. Not great, but also not horrible. Watchable.
