Jude law's good, loud, fierce acting seems like an unnecessary effort in this dull, empty plot with so many uninteresting characters... this level of acting requires a movie like wolf of wall street

Dom Hemingway is a disposable film that you'll completely forget almost as soon as it's over, as it lacks any sort of substance or deeper purpose. It isn't good at managing its multiple genres, it's too shallow and superficial to amount to much, and it adds or drops story threads and supporting characters without any thought or consideration. Jude Law kills it in the lead role, and it's a shame that the filmmakers don't use him better, or create a better movie with his performance.

Jude Law really tried to act here different than he used to. The try was almost successful. Unfortuntaly Richard Shepard's story was a terrible mishmash of everything and full of nothingness. He could not decide which genre the story should be.

reminiscent of various crime movies, therefore stylistically all over the place, never finding a spot of its own. however, jude law is a real treat here. he's truly coming along from pretty boy to character actor, and by the time he's completely bald, he just might be oscar material.

It takes its cue from Law's uncharacteristically shrill, abrasive lead performance and comes off like an ADD-afflicted delinquent shrieking for our attention. Charmless. Largely plotless. Pointless. Way more pleased with itself than it has any right to be.

The titular safecracker (Jude Law) emerges from prison after 12 years and seeks both the money he's earned and to reconnect with his estranged daughter. Both goals prove elusive. As a film, it's on the thin side, and the ending is frustratingly abrupt (like a three-act piece with the third act missing), but Law's excellent, incredibly profane performance takes center stage, and he makes both the (hilariously) vulgar and sentimental moments work. Richard E. Grant is dry fun as his associate.

I think the writers were hoping for the next Lock Stock or Snatch but this film doesnt match up to either. There are some funny moments and scenes of extreme violence but I think this film lacks the swagger of the movies aleady named. Jude Law is fine as the lead but alot of the scenes are overplayed which makes the character rather annoying to watch. The support cast don't get much screen time so if you like Jude Law as an actor this is the film for you.

The plot is extremely thin to warrant a feature length film, but Law is very good at channeling a young Michael Caine... once again.

Jude Law like you have never seen him before. He convincingly plays a hardened thief who is released from prison after 12 years and is anything but rehabilitated. He tries to pick up where he left off many years before. He is crude, rude, rowdy and raw, and is his own worst enemy. Wanting to make amends with his estranged daughter gives him something to strive for. Sometimes riveting with equal parts shocking. Worth watching but with a rather disappointing conclusion.

The only good part was the car accident scene. It goes downhill before and after that.

There were about 5 moments in the film where I thought 'okay now its going to start in earnest', and on the last one of those it ended.

The main character in this film is extremely unlikable. This is the drawback of this movie because there are no main characters to root for in this story. Overall this film is disappointing.

Dom Hemingway is a Jude Law performance piece complete with a soliloquy at the end. Shepard's film however is also an incohesive mess that can't decide if it wants to be fun, funny or gritty, attempting combinations of each before defaulting to generic and forgettable.
