The Darkest Minds

Every minute watching this I was cringing at something they were saying, doing, explaining, or force-feeding us exposition. If you want a worse version of Maze Runner/Hunger Games/etc. I would...no avoid this one. It's just bad.

Should be called "Young Adult for Dummies". Has every cliche of the genre squeezed into approx. 90 minutes. I found it hilaroius and laughed throughout the entire film.

I'm not sure what people were expecting from this movie but its not that bad, its not really good but its not terrible. Its Maze Runner/Hunger Games light meets X-Men light and its just as mediocre as that sounds.

They managed to squeeze in every YA cliche they could into one movie. That's actually impressive. Someone had to be studying.

Have you seen Hunger Games or Maze Runner? Congratulations, you've also seen this! I foolishly thought, since we have some separation between now and when the YA film craze was at its peak, that maybe this movie would step outside the box and try to be different. Instead, it does nothing different, existing as a horribly derivative, formulaic nothing of a movie, with a screenplay that sounds like it was written on a cereal box. The final 15 minutes are worth watching, but not worth getting to.

At least the acting was alright. The Darkest minds is derivative at best, with a nonsensical plot and premise. The film works its way through the clichés, tropes and teen romances that we've come to dread from the long list of YA adaptations, adding absolutely nothing new. Stylistically bland, with uncompelling caricatures of characters and atrocious writing, this film is barely watchable.

Doesn't deserve the flack it gets. On par with the other dystopian films based on YA novels.

If it wasn't so boring, it would get a pass for being so hopelessly derivative. Alas.

This is a mash up of every kids movie from the last 5 years. And it's really bad. Avoid.

Calculated and annoying.
