Far too tonally confused to ever quite decide whether it wants to be a scathing indictment of a clearly toxic relationship between two semi-insufferable people or a mawkishly sentimental ode to them, but in any case it's ultimately more interesting for it's contradictions than the typical, straight-forward Apatow nerd wish fulfillment fantasy it initially appears to be (and can't quite shake). I mean, it ain't exactly Rohmer but there's still some weird truthfulness here.

It's hard to craft likable characters when they are both so fucked up and make incredibly bad decisions routinely, but this passes it off for the most part. It's fairly brutal but because of the various issues the characters have a lot of the tension between them feels like its the same thing over and over. Still, they are funny as is the supporting cast and awkwardness reigns supreme.

Meanders a little too much but it's a fun/depressing look at two misfits trying to find love or whatever their interpretation of it is.

The two main characters are terrible people and terrible people for each other, but I'm watching this train wreck because it's still entertaining and Gillian Jacobs is a babe, always.

When Apatow does TV....magic happens. You know something is good when you're upset that it's over. Season 2 right now please!

Make no mistake, this is NOT a Freaks and Geeks part two. Sure, there are some funny moments, but it's ultimately less warm and human than F&G. Freaks and Geeks was primarily Paul Feig's show. It was funny and warm and just about perfect. Ultimately, a family show. Paul's not here for this one and it's evident. This is mostly an extension of Apatow's other dumb, crass frat humor, kicked up a few notches with the help of Rust and Arfin. It's decent background TV, but certainly nothing exceptional

As a fan of Community I had to watch this for Gillian Jacobs, and I also liked Paul Rust in his role. The show has a lot of frustrating moments but I ultimately enjoyed it.

I found Jacobs insufferable in 'Community', but she's perfectly cast and quite excellent here, and the show slowly but surely grew on me in the second and third season. The episodes are easy watches, but also sometimes poignant and always really well-acted.

It's always fun to enjoy a rom-com series that seems so bizarre and emotional but then you're like "oh shit, that's true." The characters are great - quirky, irritating and comical all at the same time. Thumbs up.

Finished Series: Loved this throughout. Perfectly subversive and relatable. With legitimately fucked up characters who don't change relative to the script. My favourite thing on Netflix.

Apatow should stop making movies and just make endless-running hang-around tv-series. This show needs more love!

First season - 75 Second season - 58 First season was pretty funny. I really enjoyed it. Second season was okay, sometimes funny, but the tone was kind of off and I wasn't a huge fan of the ending.

S1: hmm, what I can say to the show's credit is that, after cringing through the painful first episode, the character arcs, etc., were skillfully developed to the extent that I didn't constantly want to shut the thing off in horror. Quite surprised to be saying this, but: better than the Noé film of the same name. [28/100]. S2: ok, anything this had going for it was entirely done away with. [9/100].

I first checked this out just because it's filmed in my neighborhood and ended up really enjoying it. Consistently funny, but rarely hilarious. It feels very real and captures the culture. Rivals The Office for some of the most painfully awkward moments, too. Edit: Really starts to lose its way in the second season. Edit2: The third season picks up where S2 left off, but then gets better as it goes. Ultimately has some really strong moments, but you never really root for these characters.

Paul Rust of "new no-no" fame(on Comedy Bang Bang) has teamed up with Apatow to churn out some comic gold. Can't wait for season 2.

An absolutely astoundingly perfect first season is followed by two fairly mediocre efforts but still enjoyable
