Top badass moment? The Black Friday-esque panic buying in the supermarket. Quick tip; when nuclear Armageddon looms, buy shares in Sainsbury’s and Tesco. If it gets sorted you’ll be rolling in money and if it doesn’t, well it won’t matter that you’ve maxed out your credits cards buying them. You can thank me later. I thought the President’s speech was pretty rubbish; he needs to go watch Independence Day to see how it's done. 1 (average black) cat, no chainsaws or decapitations.

"Nuclear war, yeeaah. It's a motherfucker, don't you know, when they push that button, your ass gotta go." I wanted to like this film more, since it's well directed and edited, the main fireworks of the show are creepily apocalyptic, and the impending doom before and the devastating effects after are effective. But this is really ordinarily written, with no alive or fresh characters, and is far too long (especially at the start) for its own good. Could've done with more docu-drama.

We watched this in elementary school in the 80's. Ah the cold war, terrifying one child at a time.

Yeah sure it does show the horrors of Nuclear war, but so does the Fallout series and at least you have some goddamn fun playing those.

Not as disturbing as it used to be. The effects are pretty bad, but the hair and makeup people went hog wild. The dialogue and acting are mostly godawful, and make it a dead giveaway as a TV movie. Too much sappy music, also. I thought the scenes of the missiles being launched were unsettling, what a surreal sight that would be. Otherwise, kind of subpar.

A harrowing, ground-zero vision of nuclear apocalypse that still chills decades later. The mundane collapse of civilization (hospitals overrun, farms poisoned) and that silent flash over Kansas City are devastating. Made Reagan question the arms race—proof of its power

So Reagan watched this and got so depressed he started talking disarmament with Gorbachev, what would have happened if he saw Threads?

I were 7/8 years old in that 1987/88. It was sunday and in one moment a scene of car which won't to turn on by the old doctor on the moment appeared... immidiately a scene of a stroong light. In immidiate moment my mother changed chanell and I were so pissed off because of her act. It's very interesting to see how a special effects vere handled with a zero percent of using computers as nowadays is (pitty) the case...The only scene better in demostrating an atomic explosion and preeffects is inT2

What would possess you, hiding from radiation and survivalists in the basement of your own home, to leave your dog on the other side of the door to starve, die of radiation or both? A whole basement of canned goods and you can't spare one a day for your dog? Even during a tornado in Twister, young Helen Hunt's family still brings the dog with them. Wouldn't you? Who do you know who would just leave their dog a push and a pull of a door away from dying a painful, lonely death?

This is one of the most unpleasant movies I have ever seen. Long story short--we all die a slow death of radiation poisoning. The end. Fun movie eh?

YTS.
