A Cinderella Story

It's cute and sweet, I guess. Occasionally funny. The main character, played by Duff, is likeable enough. It gives one of the most beloved tales of all time a modern twist. Problem is, it's nothing new. It's just as generic as you'd expect. The film just feels recycled and choppy, throwing in every high school cliché you can imagine, minus alcohol and gratuitous nudity. It's a harmless piece of entertainment if you're looking to kill time, but that's all there is to it.

A waste of any decent person's time.

It was mildly entertaining but throughly unfunny and the drama didn't carry any weight at all. At least the basic plot is enjoyable enough so as not to be really boring.

my girls grabbed the remote and started it when I was out of the room - not my fault I saw this really. Insipid and predictable - and according to how bored everyone else got within minutes - targeted specifically at my 12 year old girl.

Predictable and simple, but i liked it somehow.

Decent light-hearted, enjoyable, forgettable movie.

It could hardly be worse. If it were worse, it would bounce back into “enjoyably bad” by the laws of movie physics. The “heroes” are using AoL for chrissakes. Total newbs.

OK, I admit that I saw this, but I was under duress.

In A Cinderella Story Hilary Duff brings along with her quite a bit of the charm she exuded during her Lizzie McGuire years. And while the structure of this film's plot follows that of the age-old Cinderella fairy tale, its feel is that of a half-hour Disney series. (Not so surprising considering its director helmed more than a dozen episodes of Lizzie McGuire, State of Grace and Even Stevens.) Its moral? Can't belive I saw this one.

Completely hilarious, for all the wrong reasons. Coolidge is the only cast member with half a clue, and most of the dialogue is so mind-numbingly horrific you can't help but laugh. It will take you 95 minutes to watch this movie. That is 95 minutes you will never get back. Ever. Please, don't waste them.

good twist on a classic tale

Bland, forgettable, and sometimes, even maliciously awful (it pains me very much that kids under 13 will be able to watch this, underwater fat lady flatulence and all, but not the great "School of Rock"). On top of that, it even bungles the story of Cinderella itself ("Life is awful! I have to water the lawn and work at a diner! And I only get to talk to my dream man on my iMac and cell phone and PDA!"). Coolidge is good elsewhere, but she's wasted and misused here. Miserable.

Bad, generic teen drama that follows the beats of Cinderella without thinking of anything of its own. Might as well read the fairy tale or even a high-school AU fanfiction.

Not the most creative re-imagining but I love all the underrated (at the time) talent in this supporting cast. Regina King! Jennifer Coolidge! Dan Byrd!

There's a certain cheesy quality to early 2000s movies that I can't help but find adorable, and A Cinderella Story is a pinnacle of the genre
