"Liberal elites" will no doubt be tickled watching the main character rudely & belligerently voice her opinions and insult mainstream-looking couples simply for their appearance since mainstream couples presumably have it coming? Non-partisans however can take pleasure in the performances, in-depth characterizations & relationships that are generally compelling & honest. Why Greer's character loves Tomlin's bitch is a mystery however. Intelligence may be an aphrodisiac, but it's not a roofie

An amazingly focused movie that's simultaneously so loose that it's easy to go along and get on its wavelength. The two main characters are incredibly entertaining together and the endless side characters are all colorful and interesting in their own way. It's a fairly simple concept executed with a keen eye for real dialogue in complicated relationships. It feels natural and true to life without coming off as overly reflective or sentimental.

Road trip/buddy movie with an angry cunt of a baby boomer played by Lily Tomlin and millenial grand daughter (Julia Garner.) We are supposed to sympathize with their horrible life choices and laugh at the obnoxious remarks of old snarky ladies. I suppose parts of it are funny but these types of characters are more annoying than anything..just like in real life when you encounter people like this. Can't really complain about the acting. However the relationship plots seem lame.

Lily Tomlin as a lesbian Grandma (2015) with anger issues and on a mission to get her granddaughter a abortion. Verbally strong, plot wise not all that broad, but the old broad ruled!

Sweet. Slight. I do prefer my curmudgeons a tad less lovable, though.

Grandma was written for Tomlin, and she doesn't disappoint; neither does Elliott. The film is zesty, well- acted and well-paced. Under 80 minutes, it doesn't overstay its welcome and manages to keep its plot interesting.

Sam Elliott pulls a Viola Davis and acts the absolute shit out of his one scene. Lily Tomlin is excellent as the titular Grandma

I liked seeing Lily Tomlin as the spunky grandma. Julia Garner was good & very cute. Marcia Gay Harden never disappoints nor did the charismatic Sam Elliott. Judy Greer was also good. This has a top notch cast & all performances were good. The story itself was not particularly engrossing. Underwhelming material. A bit contrived, especially when calling on the old boyfriend & most of the sketchy breakup. Basically, it just needed better writing and more interesting & convincing scenes.

Lilly Tomlin gets a lifetime pass for "Nashville" and the "I'm Easy" scene at the Exit Inn. And here she is, still working and with most (well, some) of her comedic chops still in tact. Except she has to play the kind of abrasive, rude character that the audience is supposed to find charming (think Bill Murray in "St. Vincent"), which is a big pet peeve of mine. It also pains me to pan anything featuring Sam Elliott, but yet, here I am to tell you that you needn't bother with this.

This was just such a cute, well-built story. You get to know the characters and the movie doesn't shy away from their bad sides, or their current or past issues. There's not too much happening here plot-wise, but it doesn't matter because it makes you feel invested in the characters. Interesting small roles played here, too, including Marcia Gay Harden, Laverne Cox, Sam Elliot and Frank Collison. Really worth a watch if you're into a character-centered story. I was not bored for a minute.

As a long time Lily Tomlin fan, this was a must. She shines as she usually does. Her young costar does a fine job as well. A fun ride that deals with a tough subject.

An indie film that's the perfect answer to the cutesey vibe of Little Miss Sunshine & Juno. It's a fun road picture where women navigate the difficult terrain of society's views of abortion. Using a framing device akin to chapters in a poetry anthology, the overall movie gains steam as it goes along. One standout sequence involves Sam Elliott & another features three generations of women simultaneously reacting to the conflict. And Lily Tomlin nails the ending. Worth watching and talking about.

Great acting but the story is missing something. And the ending?
