Rim of the World is an autobiographical tale about how McG lost his father in a fire, couldn't ride a bike until he was 13, and once was forced to perform oral sex on an illegal alien. Possibly funny if you thought Goonies didn't have enough jokes about blow jobs.

It's not that a teen comedy/alien invasion movie is just a mashup that's destined to fail from the start, "Attack The Block" was fun as hell, but this one was an utter failure. It's a shame too, I was hoping McG would be able to pull off another massively entertaining genre flick like he had in "The Babysitter" but he's already got twenty years of inconsistent work under his belt, two home runs in a row would have been a miracle.

McG follows up his criminally under seen "The Babysitter" with another 80's style coming of age flick. It works well enough, but requires a huge suspension of disbelief throughout. The jokes are hit and miss, but most of the coming of age bonding scenes are genuine. One of the actors thought it would be a good idea to channel Chris Tucker throughout the film and it gets exhausting pretty fast. You know which one!

Cute movie. This isn't a movie for young kids which should be obvious by the TV-14 rating, but some parents seem to miss that and think it's just a cute summer camp movie. Anyway, it's kind of a summer cheese movie and worth a watch if you are OK with stuff that doesn't make a whole lot of sense but just want to have fun. Stars Jack Gore, who plays a kid who likes to perform in musicals on the TV show The Kids are Alright.

Weak sauce. Kid's would probably love this.

Light-hearted movie for adolescents that's a little too simplistic for this era but just fine on its own terms. Starts brightly with an epic sweep but settles on a scaled-down plot, and some gentle drama. Young cast does well. Fine stuff for its target audience, but a bit disappointing given McG's capabilities for the grandiose, though I'm always happy to see him at the helm.

Ultimately better than I thought it'd be, it has a nice concrete story with a group of kids that work rather well together, but the I feel as if the lack of budget made the movie's tone initially feel like it should've been a Disney Channel Original movie, and as such, when kids start cussing, it naturally feels...well...strange, and I don't really care that much about language in film.

Could have been a good movie, but endless stupid projection of nastiest adult behaviors on innocent kids and not so subtle racism just ruins the whole thing.

It's a simple kid movie with a simple twist, casual script and ending. Yet somehow they kept it fun and fluent. Most beautiful thing is; there's no racism and race talk despite the leading roles (Not counting the hand shake). Just like old days. I also liked the references. But there's nothing much.

Generic and boring, it's little more than a collection of scenes from better movies.

A movie that's very reminiscent of Super 8 and the tv series Stranger Things in that it is about a group of young teenagers who embark on an adventure with a heavy dose of sci-fi in a movie that's clearly influenced by 80s and sci-fi movies. It's simple and predictable. But the kids have a nice rapport with each other, it's fun and paced well.
