A fantastic series that was way, way ahead of its time. As much as I love the Nolan trilogy, this is still the definitive onscreen Batman.

Probably the best animated series for quality of writing and production. The great score and lead in were always thrilling. A few of the standout episodes were better than 90 percent of the superhero movies made to this date.

One of the best batman stories that exists. The voice cast is amazing, the animation is good, and the music is great.

hard to rate. some truly forgettable episodes but there are a few which rank among the best animation has to offer. Feat of Clay is a slam dunk.

The best iteration of Batman out there. Highlights both the brains and brawn of Batman, displays complex villains, and has some seriously amazing stories and visuals. Yes, some of the stories tend towards kids and they're usually not the best stories, but there are many that hold up great. If you're a fan of Batman at all, I would say that this more than any movie series is a must watch. Also Alfred has some pretty amazing one liners that always make me laugh.

Very cool, very dark series. It does not only Batman, but the whole comic world justice with such an excellent well written adaptation.

This one is buried in so many Batman entries by now, and yet I cannot underscore how influential this show was. We got Harley Quinn from this show. We got Mark Hamill as the Joker. The plots were complex and the writing felt very true to human nature. If Paul Dini wrote the episode, by the way, it's a gem among gems.

This is the best adaptation of Batman, big screen or small. Its primary audience is children, and so you have to watch it through that lens, but you know what? Screw that. This is a show that used actual guns -- guns that fired BULLETS -- and killed people with gruesome Joker smiles. The writers explored interesting avenues to the characters, reinvented Mr. Freeze, created now-classics like Harley Quinn, all while staying true to the dark nature of Batman.

As a lifelong comics fan I still think this is the best adaptation out there, it captures the feel of the comics and the characters just perfectly and the writing is good enough that I can still enjoy watching this as an adult. This is still the show all comic-based television should be attempting to emulate.

A very strong animated childrens comic book show perhaps even nearly 30 years later the best out there. Being nearly 30 it shows some age with some rough animation in some episodes however overall it still holds up. There are some rough episodes but the good and fantastic episodes way outweigh and outnumber them. It introduced a now classic character in Harley Quinn and features some great voice actors. This show is the bar animated comic book shows should be aspiring to reach.

I would probably say the show isn't QUITE the masterpiece people tend to assign to it, but it's still really well done. Kevin Conroy will forever be the voice of Batman, and Mark Hamill the voice of Joker, and the animation is really well done (although in later seasons quality dropped off a bit)

Despite always being a bigger fan of Superman in general, I always acknowledged this as the better animated series. It is fantastic from start to finish and showed a clarity of vision in cartoons that was almost unheard of for that time. I think Batman: The Animated Series is still my favorite animated show ever.

When the classic "Heart of Ice" comes right after the completely worthless "I've Got Batman in My Basement," then you know that this cartoon can't stand up there with the best of the best. Still, I can't deny that when this show is good, it's pretty damn good.

Retrofuturistic film noir art deco Gotham is absolutely amazing. The most well fleshed out crop of villains I've ever seen. Thoughtful dialogue and tight writing. Amazing voice work. Fully orchestrated music. Beautiful title cards. It's easy to see how this is consistently rated as the best adaptation of Batman ever on TV or film and the best animated series ever produced besides The Simpsons.

BTAS did more for a character than any other non-comic super hero thing has done since. There are some rough episodes, but on the whole, BTAS created a Batman that was accessible, fun, while still containing the pathos and drama of the character.

I love the way this show combines the style of Fleischer's Superman shorts with Batman's colorful rogues gallery. This results in probably the most versatile iteration of Batman possible, and the animators made full use of it. This series demonstrates perfectly how well superheroes mesh with art deco. Its quality dropped when it moved to the WB, but it still brought a lot to the table even in its later years.
