It would be easy to attack B&B as ignorant, vulgar, depraved, repulsive slobs. Of course they are. But that would miss the point, which is that they reflect the society that produced them. To study B&B is to confront our culture of narcissism, alienation, functional illiteracy, instant gratification, and TV zombiehood. Those who hate B&B are confusing the messengers with the message.

Easy to write off as trash, but its slap in the face to the very channel hosting it, and the very people watching it was priceless.

I personally find the music video/Shitty MTV show segments a lot funnier than the adventure parts of episodes, but both are pretty hilarious. I like how the duo are absolute morons put in normal, everyday places and situations but end up causing carnage that they completely misconstrue. I laugh pretty damn hard whenever they have the two comment on MTV's awful shows like 16 and Pregnant and Jersey Shore moreso than the music videos, but those can be pretty funny as well.

A landmark of the 1990s, not necessarily the funniest thing out there, but captures the spirit of its time and pretty unique for what it is.

This sort of stupid humour that Mike Judge excels at is something that really gets to me. "We were in-burrito." The duo lead a rather simplistic life, with simplistic goals, and are often oblivious to the carnage around them (that they caused), so it's no wonder '90s kids look up to them. Apart from the awfully animated earlier episodes, I can throw on any one and have a good chuckle, even the finale. I didn't really watch the music video commentaries so much, though.

Hear me out: there’s a erudite subtext. 🤣 It’s a little dark, though. They got placed in juxtaposition with the very media & culture they criticized, and the culture they satirized sometimes viewed them as almost aspirational icons, supposedly? Though they were a parody of a tragic archetype? Anyway, brilliant. 🤣 (*dodges staples shot from weaponized mechanical pencils, grabs desk shield and runs out of class*)

It's like if you took two guys from the documentary HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT and turned it into an animated sitcom about suburban America.

Though I'm definitely a big Mike Judge fan (King of the Hill is one of my favorite shows ever, and Silicon Valley is one of the best shows on TV today), this is one I like but have never been in love with by any stretch. Actually, I think the best Beavis and Butt-Head "episode" ever is the movie, Beavis and Butt-Head Do America.

Everything Mike Judge does is good but this is probably my least favorite. Would rather watch the movie. You can see how many other cartoons this influenced and is still influencing. Has some truly brilliant moments sprinkled in with some episodes that are just not funny or interesting. It's a must watch if you love Mike Judge but otherwise I can't recommend.

Never liked it much.

Rated for at-the-time version with the music videos. Without those it's barely a 2.
