I've never liked family guy so I think this isn't the most useful review for some, but I really hated this one. I heard other people claim this one was enjoyable but apparently I watched another film. I thought the jokes were plain lame and the entire episode not enjoyable.

It does the thing with the star and the wars but with a family and a guy and some spoofing and goofing.

Despite actually enjoying Blue Harvest, this is more of what I would expect from Family Guy: shallow, pandering, stupid, full of itself, and painfully not funny.

No shame. I absolutely love the family guy Star Wars episodes

Lazy compared to the A New Hope one, which for some reason isn't on Criticker.

I don't know about you, but when I watch something that's supposed to be a parody of something else I expect there to be something funny - not just the same exact storyline with some half-assed jokes peppered into it. And I LIKE Family Guy - but their interpretations of the Star Wars films are lacking.

I think this would have been better had they planned it when making Blue Harvest. Unfortunately, a lot of the good Star Wars bits were already mined, since Blue Harvest wasn't really focused on just A New Hope. Still not bad, but not nearly as good as the first.

You know Seth, if you don't have any more jokes to make about your source material, then don't make another fucking movie.

Those gay father jokes were not only done in poor taste, they were also incredibly unfunny.

As with Blue Harvest, this is for the most part a series of uninspired pop-culture references, boring Family Guy idioms and lame Star Wars jokes juxtaposed by brilliantly realized animation. So yet again... a wasted opportunity.

I enjoyed it. Their third one (the Return of the Jedi spoof) was also surprisingly funny. You have to know the Star Wars saga and the Family Guy show well to get the jokes though.

Blue Harvest was the last thing I enjoyed about Family Guy post season 3. This was generally quite poor.

A little hit and miss, but generally pretty funny and MacFarlene's love of "Star Wars" clearly shines through.

Not too, too bad if you're into both Star Wars and Family Guy, but truth be told it falls short of its predecessor.

Got the stuffing knocked out of them by South Park but this is still top notch. Looking forward to Part 3

The great thing about these Family Guy Star Wars spoofs is how they imitate the shots and music so well that you sometimes feel like you're watching the real thing. The jokes can be funny at times, especially when they're aimed at the real film itself, such as pointing out errors and plot holes.

Great adaptation to the best Star Wars film ever made. Also very funny.

While I feel that "Blue Harvest" is the superior spoof with funnier jokes, I appreciated "SSDS" for what it was as a continuation. The cutscenes to Lundgren and Selleck were perfectly placed and very funny, the opening text is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in the Family Guy canon, and yes while some of the jokes were silly, most of them got over well. I like all these negative reviews with "I don't like Family Guy, but I watched this movie anyway". Well, what did you expect, genius?

18-5-2010 enjoyed it because I like family guy. Think I don't want to see it again any time soon, once is enough.

It's alright. I mean, if you love Star Wars as much as I do this is pretty much required viewing, along with the various Robot Chicken specials. In other words, don't watch this for Family Guy, watch it to geek out and poke fun at one of your favourite movies.
