A fantastic, clever, highly entertaining show that's one part Twin Peaks, one part X-Files, and two parts peak The Simpsons. It still feels weird that something this good came from the Disney Channel.

Not a single bad episode, remains consistent in quality, and then becomes an entirely different beast for the better when it decides to up the ante. It's surprisingly dark and pushes what can be shown on Disney television. The finale is what cements this as a classic

Immediately fun and charming, and then the character development gets you, and then the myth-arc jumps out and makes it amazing. Plus, it does "Twin Peaks-esque weird little town full of colorful characters and supernatural secrets" better than any other example I can think of. Also, Mabel is the best and I love her, even if I can't explain why she's always wearing sweaters during the summer.

We can talk until we're blue in the face about the beautiful animation, the excellent characters, the concept that's satisfyingly explored across two seasons, but it's the writing that keeps me coming back to this masterpiece. Not only is this evidence of hilarious comedy possible on a show marketed for children, but it's evidence of a deliberate appreciation of comedy. This show takes purposeful steps to ensure its jokes land rather than trying to pelt viewers with overwhelming wackiness.

I don't have any particular fondness for animation (despite The Simpsons being my favorite show) so it took me a while to take the plunge on this, but thank God I did, because it's the only series on the air that is at once so profoundly beautiful, hilarious, artful and moving. The relationship between Dipper and Mabel is perfect precisely because it's so believable, and Dipper is the perfect avatar via which to explore the feelings and experiences we all shared during our childhoods.

The humour might be too childlike for some, but otherwise this is one of the best animated tv-series around, especially when you realise that it's made for all ages. The mystery is enticing and the characters are amazing. Truly original.

Twin Peaks meets X-Files for kids!

While sometimes an overarching story doesn't really exist in the first season, Gravity Falls still knows how to punch way above its channel's target demographic and be a memorable show. The second season brings a larger plot that makes the show feel more consistent and provides a lot more stakes.

Frequently hilarious, sometimes touching, and it all builds up to an excellent finale.

Good to watch with kids, even as an adult. Good character development, good story, fun, it would have been great if created for a bigger audience but overall amazing for a kids show.

Both educational and cleverly plotted, this is rewatchable for multiple ages, not least because it’s only as long as it needs to be. The setting is somehow charming without very strong characters, and its doubling as a sort of puzzle will make it more engaging to some, though I don’t consider that aesthetically relevant. Faults: It does the “trapped inside a game” thing once or twice too often, and it really should not have done memes at all (but they are only two short moments fortunately).

Absolute masterpiece. 90% of the show is incredible, although the other 10% is sadly kind of cringe

I've seen enough of this vicariously through my 8-year-old that I can say with some authority it's like a kid-friendly Rick and Morty. There is some lore, some clever plot devices, and some great episodes. Quite endearing. This might be one of the best kid's television programming of all time, and it certainly ranks as one of the best recently. It's something I would have watched as a kid, and something I don't mind watching as a parent.

Wasn't expecting to binge the whole series within a couple of days. My roommate and I started watching it out of boredom, however we ended up falling in love with the show. The comedy in it is great, it's creative, it's mature and it's not afraid to be bold, especially for a kids show. It's smart and doesn't hold your hand. I love children shows that treat the kids as people and make the show as enjoyable for adults. It's a great show, easily one of my favorites.

A very smart show, aimed at for kids and show theorists alike. Changed the game in terms of viewer participation with coded messages and Easter eggs out the wazoo.

I fucking love this show. Everything about it; the animation, the voice acting, the plot, the writing is all fucking brilliant.

Gravity Falls is a great mix of whimsy and heart. The two seasons tell a complete story, with the second season delivering on multiple setups from the first. Some of the characters can get a little grating and not every episode is a hit, but the writing and mythology make the entire series worthwhile.

Quite brilliant. Works for kids as well, although perhaps not at the very end.
