Well... Spader is good in his way. The lead actress is atrocious, the support roles are paper thin and some of the dialogue is really honky. But still the weakest link is the main actress.

Spader is extremely charismatic and the show is a below average cop thriller. (2 episodes)

James Spader is kind of cheesily entertaining as Red Reddington, but the rest of the show around him kind of blends into the white noise din of the rest of procedural crime show network television.

Just stopped watching after one episode. Bad writing, stupid story, ridiculous script. Did I say terrible writing?

If I was rating the show aside from James Spader, it'd probably be around a 40. If I'm rating James Spader, it's a 100. Together, 80 feels right.

One of my all time favorites, but the story really starts to lose charm around season 3 or 4. Raymond reddington is probably my favorite TV character ever.

The cases are pretty unique and interesting. They definitely stand out with their originality. The cast, except James Spader, is nothing spectacular. Lizzy is especially bland. After the 2nd season, the characters get a weird development and become obnoxious. The writers create twists, just for the sake of twists, without trivial things such as logic or care for the characters' arc. Season 1 is a solid 80+, whereas the 4th season is an abomination. And it gets even worse, mostly because of Lizz.

It started out good: an interesting premise and it was nice to see James Spader who pulls off an excellent narcissist! However after season 4 it feels repetitive in some aspects. Also, some character decisions start to seem off with what had been built up so far. By season 6, I lost interest as the plot points became too superficial and often simple.

Spader's acting quirks are by turns engaging and irritating, and Megan Boone is terrible, but it's amusing enough if you're in the right mood. Strange writing... most of the plots are completely outlandish, but Spader gets some really good lines, while virtually all of the other characters seem vapid or just plain dim.

I only watched a handful of episodes of this. While James Spader was good, the show just got too formulaic for me and it was clear they were really going to stretch out the main season arcs too much, so I gave up on it.

'The Blacklist' brings a creative concept and runs with it. Each episode is different and has a different premise from previous episodes. The acting can sometimes be a bit stilted, but James Spader makes all of that worth it with his excellent portrayal of Raymond 'Red' Reddington.

Typical action-thriller network TV show that is a blatant "Silence of the Lambs" rip-off, with international criminals/terrorists in place of serial killers. It's impossible to listen to Spader talking with the agent without expecting him to say "Clarissse..."

Spader is good, but a little tiresome in the long run. However he is by far the best thing about this show. Boone is atrocious as an actor and unfortunately it's doesn't help the show that her character is also incredibly unlikeable

Somewhat interesting and perhaps somewhat refresing, but I have to admit that Reddington is becoming more and more annoying after a while. At first you love him, but after the first and certainly after the second season he's becoming boring and annoying. His extravagance simply doesn't work anymore.

The Blacklist is a very modern show, in a bad way. Similar to House of Cards and most Marvel movies, it's complete schlock unwilling to embrace its identity, with James Spader the only cast member aware of the show he's in, with none of the writers operating on his level either. Maybe it improved (or, hopefully, got worse) after the first season, but I doubt it. It's not Dumb Shit, it's just dumb shit.

The villain-of-the-week casting is consistently amazing and puts a ton of great character actors to work. It's a shame the writing is shit, that Spader is shit, that Boone is shit, that the show is overwhelmingly shit. The double episode with Richie Coster is amazing though and deserves to be in a better show. (It plays out like a pretty great episode of 24.)

It isn't all the unique, but its well written and Spader is perfect as a creep. Go figure?
