Beautifully wrapped, but for the most part too clichéed and unfocused to work as either spy-thriller or Kammerspiel try as it might. It does pick up in the last couple of episodes, and the great cast elevates the whole thing. Side note: This is most definitely Hiddleston's audition tape for Bond.

they should have called this "everyone wants to fuck Tom Hiddleston" or "Hugh Laurie's awesome nightgowns"

Overall it's pretty good, even though I almost didn't watch it through after the first episode - I found it completely different from the rest of the series. From E2 onwards it's pretty tightly packed with suspension and Tom Hiddleston smiling so you don't really have any time to be bored.

Tenet the series without the sci-fi elements.

The intricacy was too much for me to be able to unwind, so I stopped after viewing 2½ episodes.

The cast is great, and there's lots of really great suspense here. I've heard there may be another season in the works, and I would love to see more. Tom Hiddleston does a great job in this type of role, and I also liked Hugh Laurie and Elizabeth Debicki.

Really slow start, but the last two episodes make it all worth it. Tom Hiddleston also makes for a great lead.

The plot is pretty much made of plot. And the whole thing works best if you think of Angela Burr as the protagonist. She's the spiritual successor to George Smiley, just trying to do her job (that she's great at), hindered by corruption, bureaucracy and an asset who can't keep it in his pants.

Visually impressive, The Night Manager is a decent and largely effective spy thriller but one that failed to reach the heights it seemed initially capable of. Surprisingly the acting from the leads wasn't the best with neither Hiddlestone or Laurie producing their best work. Laurie in particular was frequently either a little too comedic or overly intense and didn't convince as a billionaire arms dealer. Olivia Coleman on the other hand was perfectly cast as the determined british agent.

W4E1P1S1V1M2A2R2. It's like they couldn't decide if they wanted him to be Bond, or Leo in "The Departed," and I don't think the indecision was deliberate. The show for me turned into waiting anxiously to discover finally which it was, but alas it was just a standard spy show and not a character study. But great fun all the while.

I would love to see Hiddleston as James Bond. Basically, he's already James Bond here. It's beautifully shot and filled with thrilling moments but also clichéd and sometimes rather far-fetched. But definitely worth a watch if you like Le Carrés works.

Started off promising, but my enthusiasm waned more and more as the episodes came and went. The best thing about it is the title sequence.

I was expecting Hugh Laurie to be the night manager and having a different adventure every episode. Well, I was completely wrong. Although it has every cliche in the book, it still very well done and highly enjoyable. Recommended.

Initially very intriguing due to Carré and the two leads, but throughout the episodes boredom grows and it becomes apparent that this is another completely ordinary and uninteresting spy story.

Zzzz.... so many suffering women, so little depth. Die-hard Hugh Laurie fans might find some enjoyment here, since he basically just plays a slightly meaner version of House.
