Model robots kick the shit out of each other with giant lasers and saws and stuff. Total crap, but memorable crap. Better than Michael Bay's Transformers.

Because I am a pathetic manchild I actually had a fun time with this. It's extremely cheesy and cheap, but I'm up for seeing robots cut each other apart with lasers and chainsaw dicks any time. It also scores extra points for having no sound in space.

Good natured fun up until the scene where the robot jox are in the locker room shower relentlessly picking on one of the robot nerdz.

I can't think of a more hilarious cultural stereotype in a movie than a Japanese man crushing an origami crane in despair.

Film is refered in 1995' "Hackers" movie. When Cereal killer excites about combined nick` names of Dade and Kate he says "Crush and Burn" which is robot jox's greeting.

Story goes, that this film bankrupted Band's Empire Pictures. This is what happens when b-movie masters try to do big-budget flick on their own. I mean they got Haldeman to write it (as story goes he didn't get along with Gordon too well). In part this film is something you would expect to see on TV sunday morning, right after some friendly-big-foot movie. But then there also is b-film sensibilities. Very unusual fare.

I keep thinking of the fat Texan killing himself Geronimoooooooo Wanted this to be better, the effects are really fun and creative for the budget but it's just so boring until the movie gives Rocky 4 a run for its money ending the new Cold War.

Big robots with plot that makes no sense but it works as a comedy. This movie's characters had the most thumbs up I have ever seen.

Not a good film. Chainsaw penis earns the bulk of these 45 points.

This is the best Transformers movie, hands down. It's well-paced and smartly written, with just enough satirical edge. The stop-action robots are fun as hell, Athena as a character kicks ass, there's a lot of environmental worldbuilding, and it's just a straightforward good time.

Comparisons have been made with Pacific Rim, but Gordon's low budget smash-em-up could also be mistaken for a witless Verhoeven film with its on-the-nose political subtext and somewhat clumsy attempts at satire. As other reviewers have noted, it is a text book bad film with poor acting, cheesy dialogue and surprisingly flat footed direction. The stop motion effects have a certain primitive charm--it's hard to believe that R.J led to the demise of Empire--but it's too cheap to really work.

Robot Joxis a pretty decent film. There are some really impressive shots where the merge live action footage with the stop motion animation footage. The character stuff had me checked out at various points in the film. I just didn't care about that and wanted far more robot action. The film is still entertaining because the robot stuff is so strong. I have to bet that Guillermo del Toro is a fan of Robot Jox.

Really this should be given a far poorer score because good God is it a bad movie. However this takes "so bad it's good" to an entirely new level. Every ounce of the film oozes unintentional comedy of maximum caliber. Ever seen a robot with a massive chainsaw phallus? Robot Jox can remedy that gap in your life. This is the ultimate movie to see with your drunk buddies, hands down.

Not very good. The pretty cool looking mega robots don't fight it out the way you want them, and there's an awful lot of inexplicables. Haldeman (who I hear is a very good sci-fi author) puts it best, "to me it's as if I'd had a child who started out well and then sustained brain damage"

This movie runs along pretty briskly until the final act which kind of devolves into something like Power Rangers: the Movie. In this age of heightened nuclear tensions, maybe you could use some reassurance that this is (unfortunately) familiar territory.

The miniatures are superb but the sparse amount of robot combat is a real disappointment given both the budget and that it's the movie's only real selling point. Most of the action is instead reduced to drab training sequences and fist fights, with the rest of the runtime taken up by the typically redundant romance and rival subplots. Still, Jeffrey Combs cameos are always fun.

There's only two reasons to watch it - nostalgia or irony. I didn't see this in the 90s so that's out and it's too boring for irony's sake. A real stinker
