If you've seen the trailer, you've seen almost the entire movie - all the relevant bits, anyway. There's a lot of filler, during which a good movie would give us character development - or at least dialogue that doesn't make us spit out our drink in a fit of laughter. But The Space Between Us doesn't have anything. It's a bad teen romance movie, it's a bad movie about an outsider taking in the wonders of Earth, and it's a terrible movie when both of those elements are combined.

I'm not sure what possessed me to rent this Definitely not my type of movie But if you can get past the improbable storyline Not the worst romantic teen movie

You may have to lean in to the silly here, but this is a breezily enjoyable, at times hilariously melodramatic, bit of pubescent sci-fi (ironically enacted by two 'kids' at the forefront far too old to be playing these characters!) Perhaps the blatantly artificial performances and writing on display makes this easier to go down (with a welcome return of scenery chewer 90s Oldman to boot!) but ultimately a pleasant enough time-killer.

Do I call this movie good? I don't think I can. Do I call this movie bad? I don't think that's quite fair, either. I liked Gary Oldman and his overacting. I liked Britt Robertson and her Britt Robertson-ness (seriously, she's the cutest), and Asa Butterfield is a good performer. The screenplay and story are not good, and hurt an interesting premise by playing it very, very safe. The stakes feel superficial, but it's shot fairly well and will probably work well enough for its target audience.

This isn't a review, it's a comment. Why so many low ratings? I must be a really unique person because I thought this was a super cute movie. Perfect? No, of course not, but I still found it quite enjoyable. I honestly enjoyed it more than the last movie I saw, which was a little flick called Avengers: Endgame.

Hit and miss but has its moments, including the ending.

A harmless teenage and road movie. Britt Robertson was funny and enjoyable opponent for the lead.

This is a feel-good movie and I appreciated it. Forget about the million faults, the overacting and the somewhat childish feel about it and you have an entertaining movie that manages to make you feel for the characters. And that is what I want in a movie. 60/100.

Watch: Netflix...if you have to | It's not as bad as I expected. There's two minutes towards the end where some writer decided to shoehorn in every cheesy line that they've had in a drawer somewhere...and that whole bit is truly painful! The attention to detail when they're on Mars' reduced gravity is very fun, the pseudoscience is kept to a minimum, the story is entertaining, and Gary Oldman eats the scenery wherever possible.

Nickelodian-style nonesense...having said that, it does at moments seem to sweetly capture the excitement of young love. Gary Oldman sorely out of place. Otherwise: Bland

Purely for the feel-good factor, this film is pretty decent. It's a new spin on an old plot, not enough was made of the whole space aspect of the story but it warmed my heart and sometimes that's all that you need.

I don't get all the insane hatred other than the groupthink power of Rotten Tomatoes in a post Star Trek world. It's definitely not good, but it could've been a serviceable miniseries on the CW or Disney Channel.

The colour of this film is beige. It's just that bland. Britt Robertson has been playing a teen for over 10 years and that's strange. The concept is interesting but the direction is so unimaginative that I forgot all of it as soon as I'd watched it and haven't given it a second thought.

The movie is a teenage love story but not one of your usual ones. The difference comes from the guy being raised on a different planet and wanting to be set free from the people looking after him. Parts of the movie seem implausible wherein the teenage couple steals one car after another and continue to elude the authorities. All in the all I did not regret watching the movie.

I think more people enjoyed this film than they care to admit. Is it a little hokey? Yeah, but not nearly enough to diminish the film's integrity. There's a lot going on in this film. It's is a profound, metaphorical, and novel film about alienation and the struggle to escape. To do that in a way that is new and entertaining is an accomplishment.

I felt surprisingly cheerful after the film as if it opened me up.
