For a lot of people (or maybe I'll just speak for me) puberty is not just traumatizing but catastrophic. You're somewhere between 3 and 30 and you can have children but you can't have an adult conversation and your best friends are growing boobs. Big Mouth captures that abysmal period (...) in life with all the gross out humor that is perfectly inappropriate and genuine in equal measure. It somewhat fizzles in its mid-to-late season 1 episodes, but I'll certainly be looking forward to new ones.

It misses quite often but when it hits it's usually pretty amazing. A fun cast and some pretty ridiculous scenarios that even manages to mix in a good amount of heart. *edit - raised score after 2nd season.

I've never felt the awkwardness and terribleness of puberty in such an intensely funny manner. The show is clever, witty, absurd and I probably would've loved it even more if puberty was a more recent memory for me. The only downside is watching a show about kids regularly referring to sex, which is it's own kind of awkward.

In the push to differentiate, it seems like animation just gets uglier and uglier. And there are definitely some gross-out type jokes that just feel try-hard and don't work. But once you get past that, there's a seriously hilarious show that has a creative angle on depicting puberty. The show just keeps getting better, too.

Episodes and jokes can be a bit hit or miss, but when it hits, it hits it right out of the damn stadium. The entire concept of the "hormone monster" is brilliant, representing puberty's hormonal mind-screw as a disgusting beast that is nonetheless followed without question. How did any of us survive this shit? I'm still not quite sure, but I do know Big Mouth left me howling.

I had avoided this show based of stills and the animation. What an absolute shame as this had me absolutely losing it and It takes a bit for me to laugh out loud watching something. Relatable, quotable and so incredibly rewatachable. I'm smiling instead of putting an end of review quote about this show Edit - Fell off a bit.

It takes a little time to get into its world and tolerate the characters but once you look past that, it's actually very clever, has a lot of laughs and a lot of heart.

Juvenile tripe. If it was funny that would be the appeal

despite the animation, which is EXTREMELY off-putting initially, this is actually very maturely immature in its treatment of puberty. part of me wonders if the crudeness makes the subject matter unlikely to reach those who might find it most useful, but another part of me thinks 13 year olds are going to be able to find this on Netflix just fine.

Kind of amusing on the writing level (sort of like a somewhat milder somewhat younger American Pie or something), but my big stumbling block with it is in the art style, particularly the character designs, which I frankly find hideous. I kind of feel in general like every adult animated series that comes out looks worse than the last.

It was fun for a couple seasons, but the more it goes on the cringier it gets. The cringe monsters and the borderline pedo stuff are becoming too much for me. It's not bad per se, but I'm good, I'm out.

Very original show. Some parts are rather off putting but I generally like it. I like the “fuck it” nihilistic attitude that show has. I don’t love how a lot of the political opinions are presented as fact, especially since many of their stances are not well researched. But they tried. And honestly it’s pretty enjoyable which mostly makes up for the flaws. I am kind of weirded out about how sexual a show about children is but I get that it’s about puberty. At least they didn’t cast real kids.

Rough first-and-a-half season that contains a lot of puerile, stupid, uninspired filler in the form of the developmentally and intellectually retarded member of the school faculty. It picks up in the second half of the second season, when longer, more interesting story arcs appear and the show delves more meaningfully into what it's like to hit puberty. Great high concept, serviceable execution.

Very raunchy (maybe the raunchiest I’ve seen at this point) but often hilarious show. The last season was noticeably weaker than the rest but that is almost expected in shows where the novelty begins to wear off. Highly enjoyable but it did get to the point where I kind of just wanted it to be over… B

Boasting excellent voice work (Maya Rudolph is fantastic), great original songs and memorable characters, including personified portrayals of hormones, depression and anxiety, "Big Mouth" tackles puberty in a funny, unique, inclusive and occasionally heart-warming, resonant way. Still, parts of it seem jarringly far-fetched given that the protagonists are 7th graders, some of the supporting characters are rather gimmicky and neither repetition nor quality dips are avoided throughout the seasons.

It doesn't just have a great, fast-paced humor, but is also a show that captures a brilliant representation of going through purbety and adolescence with it's drama.

Alternates between being the most mature and least mature look at adolescence on TV. Lost interest after season 4 or 5.

When this popped up on Netflix I immediately unconsciously dismissed it as another Brickleberry or whatever that shit was. I don't have the time to be looking into everything & making actual informed decisions. Really I don't have time to be following series. But somewhere I ran into a good review & decided to try it out, & it's pretty great. Hoping for a third season.
