I prefer the movie so far, but this manages to stand on its own pretty well. EDIT - now several seasons in, and its successfully established its own identity and brand. It's good, and I raised the score accordingly.

Almost as funny as the film on which it is based. Me to the series: "But I appreciate you. I really do." Series to me: "You have a funny way of showing it." Me: "Thank you."

If you've seen the movie, this will tickle the same sensibilities and humor so I'd guess your enjoyment will be similar as well. If you haven't seen the movie, it is not required for the show. Definitely the most I've laughed at a TV show in a long time.

Some dull moments and bad episodes, but this show is top tier for the cast and characters alone. The original movie was good, but it lacked Colin Robinson to tie the whole thing together. Great ending too, which is rare in TV series nowadays. I loved having this show with me during the dull COVID days, and the years that followed. I'll miss it a lot, it can't be replaced. Fucking guy!

It's funny, but kinda sad. Also, not a fan of the reality show style. Would have been better as just a regular show.

The show is good at capturing the style and essence of the film without the main cast feeling like rip offs. Each member is well-fleshed out through the course of the show. The show does start to run out of steam about halfway through and only occasionally does an episode reach its former peak.

What We Do in the Shadows (the TV show) is a decent addition to the film as it is packed with humorous moments but it isn't nearly as clever or necessary as the movie. It's still plenty of fun though and I didn't feel as though it wasted my time as it does have plenty of new jokes.

[After two seasons] The show is well made with a lot of fun visual gags. It feels cinematically unique whenever it tackles the superunatural happening in ordinary surroundings. That said, the show's main comical engine is stupid, selfish people behaving stupidly selfish and that is just not my favorite kind of comedy; I like my characters a little more cordial. Whenever they do try different forms of comedy though, it is usually a blast. Jackie Daytona, a regular human bartender, comes to mind.

Really came into its own around 2/3 through the first season. The vampire council episode is the best use of cameos I've seen in a very long time. Has gotten stronger and stronger the longer it has gone on.

Fulfills the promise of the mockumentary and expands it in wonderful ways.

I liked the (second part of) the movie better than most of the series, but this one delivers as well.

The show is very much in the vein of the movie, coming into its stride in the 3rd episode. I like the cast, who are mainly playing to their strengths; Berry acting as he is put off by everything, Novak doing silly voices. The format actually works surprisingly well as a sitcom.
