Weak action adventure, hampered by another lost performance by Paul Walker. Discovery Channel for simpletons- Take the kids somewhere else.

Fascinating, great Walt Disney movie about 8 dogs, a real struggle for life for them. Super and touching real story !

Enjoyable saga is pure Disney corn, and for about half an hour it feels like it may avoid the pitfalls, especially during the well-wrought extended sequence with Greenwood, Walker and the dogs. Becomes increasingly more difficult to take as the dogs are left to fend for themselves, as they adopt an almost Lassie-level degree of intelligence and insight, which hurts the drama. Still, it’s reliably well produced and performed with conviction; may well mark Walker’s most charismatic performance.

Dumb kiddie movie. The dogs automatically get about ten times smarter when no humans are looking

I felt that, being the dogs were advertised and the real selling point for this film, there really wasn't that much screen time for them.

This is not a kids film. Let me repeat that. This is not a kids film. Poor action and difficult subject matter. This is advertised as a family film. My family was very upset by the end of this film, and my children were in tears. Starving abandoned sled dogs being attached by seals - sigh. Not what I expected, don't waste your time here.

Not too bad but unremarkable. Jason Biggs' character was annoying.

I was surprised how much I loved it! Of course, all the human scenes should be cut.

It's nothing revolutionary, but for a fun film for the entire family to enjoy, it's one of the better releases this year.

The story of Eight Below is inspiring and endearing, but it's simply not exciting enough to be made into a movie. It feels like it was meant to be an article in a respectable publication. The sense of urgency falls short, making the film mostly uninteresting. Ugh!

It's an exciting adventure - the dogs are great. Paul Walker... well... he's a bad actor in yet another movie that I like...

I'm always going to have a soft spot for movies that involve animals, so this was no exception. It was actually better than I'd expected. Not steller cinematic movie making, but it was an entertaining story. And the dogs are cute:)

Marshall does an excellent job of creating drama with a cast of non-human creatures (Paul Walker included). The dogs are incredible, and when the movie focuses on them, it's tense, thrilling, and deeply touching. The problem is, Walker just won't stay the hell out of the movie when he's got no business being there. I just don't care about the humans in this movie. At all. I cared about those dogs. And if the movie had stayed on them more, it would have been much better for it.

If you're watching this movie for the character plot, you're wasting your time. The dogs steal the show, and they'll steal your heart.

Watch only for the dogs. I agree with lachapelle, this is not a family movie, the dogs starve, ( SPOILER COMING UP! ) there attacked by seals and a couple of them die. It's sure to leave children and kids everywhere in tears.

A film where the human actors are purely coincidental. A good old fashioned family film. It has Disney schmultz in buckets but not to the detriment of the film. Some truly stunning cinematrography at times with clever use of camera shot, score and lighting. One to pull on the emotional heart strings. And as for the dogs - better actors than many ofof the two legged variety seen elsewhere. Give it a go.

Not as great dog story as Hachi, but still this is also very good stuff. Inspiring, touching and well made movie. All in all big recommendation to all dog (or animal in general) lovers.

When Paul Walker is forced to abandon his eight beloved sled dogs in the brutal Antarctic, the stage is set for a story about hope, friendship and, most of all, never giving up. (pluggedin.com)

Clear it was lame so quit pretty early but left it on for the dog. Disnefied anthropomorphism -gently barking game-plans to each other etc.- meant that it was too silly to interest him either.

Very saccharine treatment of real life accounts in the Antarctic brought to you by Disney of course. Did not expect to like this much but it definitely appeals to dog lovers. Paul Walker shines in his somewhat carefree role as a nature loving guide. It's kind of obvious this was a passion project for the dude which makes it sad to watch in hindsight. This is a decent movie for kids. Anyone who thinks kids should be sheltered from life/death need to stop the pussified helicopter parenting.
