The Fog

The fog in The Fog is capable of possessing people, hurling them through windows, and even picking up knives and stabbing people. In other words, the fog demonstrates more heroic abilities than the movie’s actual hero. No wonder it’s the title character. Whatever tension or spookiness the original movie had has been removed here. But there is a scene where Tom Welling and Maggie Grace take a shower together! Carpenter’s version didn’t have THAT!

Nothing really redeeming about it. I gave it 12 points because it's called "The Fog" and it indeed has fog in it.

All the shocks and surprises are blatantly telegraphed, so this utterly fails at being scary. The cast is bland and unlikable. Pretty useless.

Boring and removes any of the interesting subtext in the original. Something comforting about these ugly mid aughts horror movies tho.

Man, what a weird Smallville episode. Seriously, I don't get it, why doesn't Clark just use his powers to... Oh, this is a movie? Really? Oh, in that case... Trades the subtle, slow-burn of the Carpenter classic for the worst sins of the early 2000s, post-Scream era of horror. The characters and dialogue are embarrassing and the scare factor is non-existent. Also, the CGI fog is utterly awful. Skip it.

This 'remake' of the 1980 classic horror flick The Fog is an absolute abomination of a film and sully s the legacy of the original which is a far,far better film that this cheap and hollow remake. complete garbage.

Mediocre remake that takes away the interesting Carpenter look and feel and replaces it with that 90s/00s generic horror feel, eh. The ghosts looked nice, I suppose.

Fogall!! Boring, draggy movie with a very standard plot. Even if you go with the plot, what the hell does the FOG have to do with all this? Pointless. Maggie Grace looks awesome, but the ending when she goes with the ghosts is even more pointless.

Relying on dim, fairly negative memories of Carpenter’s original, this seems to be a more involving version of the material, with likable if undemanding performances from its cast making it go down smoother. There’s still something incredibly goofy about the underlying premise that the film still can’t shake off, especially through the spotty CGI that dominates the horror scenes, and while mildly unsettling at times, there’s nothing particularly scary here.

Lacks any real cohesion and is impossible to follow, as the plot is so disjointed and badly presented. Truly a huge waste of money on something that might have been decent, if in competent hands.

As seems to be the case with remakes these days this film doesn't stand up to the original. With sterotypical characters for the genre it had the potential of being far worse than it is, Tom Welling delivered a good performance which I was hoping for. However the actress playing his girlfriend (lovely lady from Lost, whose name I forget, Apologies) seemed too skinny, which is a huge shame because she is a very pretty girl. Wow, I really hope that they re-make more decent 80's movies in the shittiest way possible. I love movies with zero redeeming qualities.

Much like the fog itself, "The Fog" is slow moving, aimlessly meandering and filled with a sense of dread. Truly one of the worst remakes ever.

One of the worst movies I've seen, the video was lousy, the plot was lousy, the acting was lousy, but the thing about the DVD version that struck me the most was the sound mastering. Why wouldn't it leave the poor subwoofer alone? We had to turn it all the way down and it still sounded like it was booming in some scenes. Why?
