Top quality players in a really weak game.

I loved this when I was younger, really funny stuff.

Amusing 90s sitcom - I quite enjoyed the whole run.

It's pretty daft, but I remember liking this one quite a bit. Lithgow had some very funny moments here and there.

Lithgow made this watchable, but the premise wore thin so quickly.

Just missing being watchable. There was a cuteness to the ignorance and silliness of the whole thing, but it wore pretty thin without much actual character development.

Had some funny moments, unlike most sitcoms which are fully cringe.

This 90s sitcom might not be one of the top 5 of the decade, but it is certainly on my list of "Five 90s Sitcoms to Watch Instead of Friends". This takes the fish out of water thing to a new level. It's also fun to see Wayne Knight in this, making him a minor character in two of the top sitcoms of the day, but my favorite is still JGL as we're about the same age and he was the most identifiable to me during this show's initial run.

(Completed) Perfectly cast, with the exception of the one weak link: Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I can see how the alien unit needed a level-headed character, but couldn't it have been someone like Richard Dreyfus or Austin Pendleton?

Campy overacting galore. In fact Lithgow's slapstick imperiousness is the only good thing here. Fortunately, that's often enough to make for a fun viewing experience.

good series

John Lithgow is masterful here and makes the show a comedy classic. The writing was brilliant for most of the first few seasons and there was quality physical comedy too. Had the show been on any longer though, the shtick would have run terribly stale.

Below par 90s sitcom

A couple writers had a concept for a 5 minute sketch and somehow managed stretch it out to 5 years

I hated this show. It was just so loud and obnoxious and the premise got old so fast.

Rating based on Season 1.

It had its moments and the concept was fun, but it declined steadily over the years. There's much worse out there and it gets some marks for nostalgia.
