The running hedonism loses its flavor with silver surfer quickness

Started off so promising but eventually I gave up on it and moved on. It basically just takes liberties with Charles Bukowski's life and dramatizes the hell out of it. Becca is one of the most annoying characters of all time but has provided tons of laughs among my friends. The show was at its best when it focused on the humor and at its worst when it tried to be profound. I would be surprised if Kapinos ever gets another show on the air

Saw the first couple of seasons and enjoyed it. David Duchovny makes a great dissolute-type.

season 1-4: 85, season 5: 70, season 6: 65, season 7: 60. it should've ended with the season 4.

It's actually good, but it just goes on and on and all blurs together eventually. Had this had a definite beginning and end, instead of dragging on until it was cancelled, you can tell it would have been amazing. I'd like to revisit it eventually but I worry about reaching that part of the story again where I start to feel disdain for everyone involved for milking it.

I did stop watching after season 6 though. It's a fun show.

This show is responsible for 2nd most uncomfortable stepdad/stepdaughter viewing experiences. That aside, the premise really gets old fast and I found after the season 1 finale that I just really didn't give a shit what happens from there. From others reviews it appears that was a good call.

You might as well just sit down and listen every Warren Zevon record in a row, spare yourself some time loss and udder maltreatment.

I agree that it may not be a good show, but it is the only show which I can consider as a friend (sounds very lonely, I know). Even after it has ended, I miss this show and I am happy whenever I watch its re-runs. I guess my high score can only be explained with my personal reasons to like the show.

A perfect vehicle for Duchovny to shine. I did however lose interest with the lack of progression. (3 seasons)

A downright romp, Duchovny is hilarious and Hank Moody is perhaps the most misguided, self righteous lead character you will ever witness; the things that brings it all together is he always tries his best and falters based on temptation which makes him realistic and relatable.

Though certainly not as bad as Entourage (few shows outside of Girls and The Secret Life of the American Teenager are), I found it kind of smug and bro-y and obnoxious in a similar way. I will admit it had some good nudity. Camille Chen's very long, very graphic nude scene in season 4 is something I'm shocked any already-established (from Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) non-porn actress agreed to. Not that I'm slut-shaming her; I think it's awesome.

It was fun to watch for the first three to four seasons, but the show lacks notable evolution in characters and scenarios thus seasons are almost interchangeable. However, a prominent asset of "Californication" are some of the supporting characters and guests which make up for a lot with great acting and entertaining roles - unfortunately, most of these arcs last no more than one season.

Went on a little long but the characters are all charming dicks so it's still watchable.

And of course Showtime milked it.
