It might help that I grew up in the very town that Mike Judge says inspired Arlen (Richardson, TX), but I just love this show. It's not the high-energy romp of stuff like The Simpsons, Futurama, South Park, American Dad or Rick and Morty, but something different, quieter, subtler, but no lesser for it. Indeed, it's my favorite adult animated sitcom. Such a rich sense of place and relatable people. I just sink into this show like a warm bath. I love it; I'm sad there's nothing on like it today.

Too understated and intelligent for its own audience.

A deep and layered show that cannot be fully grasped by one viewing. This writeup of Hank Hill is amazing: https://www.reddit.com/r/copypasta/comments/2r8ou0/i_believe_that_hank_hill_is_one_the_most_complex/ and as someone who grew up in Texas it is a nice tribute to the state and does it justice.

Originally compared to The Simpsons, which was unfair and unfounded. It grows on you, especially with age. The older I get the more Hank Hill makes sense.

The first three seasons were the show's peak, and it became borderline bad near the end, but for the most part it was difficult to turn King of the Hill off whenever it was on -- even when I was younger and didn't laugh at anything that wasn't Bill hurting himself, or Dale hurting himself.

"Why are we watching a foreign movie? You'd think if it was any good they would make an American version." This quote has changed the game of watching movies.

A show that's multi-layered and multi-faceted, it requires you to actually watch a lot of episodes and to get to know a lot of its characters to understand its humor. That said though, the humor can be absolutely comical and for Texans I'm sure it was something a lot of them could relate to. A hard show to really get into and humor which can be dry at times, but I think it's pretty good for what it is.

Worth revisiting, if you remember it from your childhood—when your TV only got local stations. It's a little different from your average animated family comedy, really strong characters, and definitely funny regardless of whether you're cringing internally or not.

Unfortunately, we learned in 2016 that this world and these people don't exist but man, it still works very well as a fairytale.

Another animated sitcom that started off great but went on far too long. When it's good it's really good, when it's bad it's really bad. The later seasons forced me to lower my score.

Odd, often tedious, but as a general parody of a Texan suburban family, it's on point.

Definitely a hit and miss show for humor, but some of the characters are very enjoyable.

Varies, sometimes radically, in quality from episode to episode and even character to character. As time wore on less plots actually tried to challenge the characters and the quality dropped. The relaxed pace is nice, but sometimes that turns into a bad thing. Dale is easily the best character, and everything he does is hilarious.

MAKE A SEPARATE WEBSITE FOR TV, OR MINIMALLY BREAK THE SHOW DOWN BY INDIVIDUAL SEASONS - When KotH came out I was in fifth grade and admittedly too young to really get why this show is so brilliant. I wrote it off for years and years and finally gave it a try. It's subtle humor draws you in whether you're liberal or conservative. Being a progressive from a semi rural area this show suits me perfectly, as some of these characters exist in my day to day.

Only ever dipped in and out but it was pleasant enough, just never understood why it was animated.
