I was bracing myself for a very somber lesson in how young girls perceive celebrity and their own bodies, when the story totally goofed out and became a warped love letter to the kids movies of the 80s. You may think you hate this, but I know you, and you're a good person.

A classic case of "didn't hate, wasn't great".

The conceit with Ashley Too was fun, but the poppy stuff is just as annoying as it's intended to be. There's also some weirdly broad humor in this episode that just felt totally out of place. Definitely a weaker episode, but it's still got enough in it to be enjoyable.

Cleverly enlists Miley Cyrus into a war against the industrial production of music, the irony being that the vehicle chosen by the filmmakers for the prosecution of this war is the music of Trent Reznor, who made his fortune by taking the “dark themes” attractive to those allergic to pop and wrapping them around what is essentially easily-digestible pop music, a strategy later copied with great success by Brian Warner, and in a more diluted fashion by Alecia Moore and Stefani Germanotta.

I understand what they were trying to do with Miley Cyrus but they missed the mark badly and on several fronts. Miley Cyrus was distractingly bad in this and the themes are, at times, mind-numblingly stupid. Hopefully this is a low point for Black Mirror because a couple more episodes like this and I will give up.

Pretty cringe. The music sucks ass and Miley Cyrus still can't act even in a role that seems tailor-made for her.

Ashley O is Miley Cyrus. I mean; she literally is. That's how she pull it off this good.

Nice twist here with a tolerable Miley Cyrus. They raped NIN's "Head Like A Hole" though...and that can't be forgiven!

This episode tries to do a bit much. But I enjoy that BM tries to do its own take of so widely different genres throughout the series, so that even when the technological premise is familiar (oh, mind upload again), you never know quite what outcome to expect. Silly and weird but I had a good time.

Moments of brilliance seem wasted on a buddy comedy style ending while the real Miley Cyrus joked with an AI version of herself. With the scenes before that an entirely different tone was set heavily by the way Ashley was feeling and thinking. It felt like a rushed miniseries in all honesty that tried to combine elements of mental health, talent and redemption. Those things just don't fit well in just over an hours worth of television when it takes years to feel them all.

I enjoyed the concept, but the whole slap style buddy act portion was odd and off putting.

Made me feel like maybe Black Mirror should wrap it up?

A 'fun' episode of Black Mirror, with the usual darkness eschewed -for the most part - in order to create this more lighthearted, amusing romp. Kills the time fine, and Cyrus is pretty decent when she's called on, but you'll forget the whole thing five minutes after watching it.
