Webster's dictionary defines Modern Family as "something on television"

Formulaic as hell, but there is so much quality. Ty Burrell is amazing.

Modern Family is an excellent example of a show outstaying its welcome. The first few seasons felt fresh and were much more consistently funny. From the 4th/ 5th season the formula feels tried, and characters settle into expected routines; Mitch & Cam bicker, Gloria & Jay have their culture clash, Phil & Claire try to surprise each other... The acting for the most part is good and entertaining, though everyone has their favourites. At this point, we can only hope the show goes out on a high.

I'm giving it slack on the basis of only having seen parts of episodes from later seasons, which often are worse than those preceding them. Still, the cinematography is bad, as are the jokes themselves, but combined they converge into some terrible television.

Pretty good stuff. I like how characters are well developed and eperformance from the cast is escellent, specially Cam, Manny and Phil. Phil = legend. :) All in all quality comedy/familly tv show.

The cast and writers know what they're about at this point; this show is a machine very reliably churning out the same sort of comedy episode-in, episode-out for years and years now. I find it kind of annoying though. I certainly find its dominance over the Emmys to be annoying.

It's fine I guess, it's clearly a clone of Arrested Development but there are far worse popular shows around.

Started out pretty good but it's become so formulaic and predictable anyone watching can write the episodes. Ed O'Neill is the best part of the show and the latino kid is the worst. Seriously, some of the shit he says is so absurd along with some of the other child actors. It's a harmless sitcom that puts up a facade of being edgy because it deals with gay shit constantly but when something is so universally accepted, how edgy are you?

Started off amazing, it has started to run its course, so in 5 years I am sure it will be over.

Probbaly one of the better family sitcoms of the 2010s.

Seasons 1-6 are great; steep drop after that

(rating and review for the first season). This first season was inconsistent, with very funny episodes alternating with others that barely brought a smile. In a different world with a smaller selection of sitcoms available, I might have continued watching the show past season one, but we are too spoiled with higher quality comedies for it to be worth my time.

The cast is all great and there are a lot of laughs to be found here. Unfortunately it doesn't really feel like a show I'd go back to rewatch, but it was all very entertaining when it was on.

The first episode is a collection of insulting stereotypes.

It's a really bland comedy show which I only tried getting into because of how much praise it gets. I guess it's not for me. Rating is based on just the first season.

I can't give a comprehensive score/review of the series as (for some reason) it's still ongoing and I haven't seen much of the later seasons. Started out with good writing, characters and pretty consistent humour (if you find this sort of family sitcom funny), which by all appearances has become a bankable rehash of it's former glory in recent seasons.

Una serie brillante e ben scritta, dal taglio molto originale. Ovviamente dopo 11 anni ha mostrato un po' la corda, ma la qualità non si è mai abbassata ed i personaggi hanno continuato a funzionare. E' la fine di un'era, mi mancherà.

Doesn't quite hold the same high standard towards the end, and the addition of Joe is about as awful as Jar-Jar. But none the less a very enjoyable show and Ty Burrell is amazing. It had run its course and it's the right decision to end it but none the less, I'll miss it.

Like most people have said, highly enjoyable and consistent show in its early seasons. Past few seasons have become so dry and unsurprising that you just wish it would end. Only continue watching as I have a sick addiction of finishing things. Manny is by far the worst character and Sarah Hyland who plays Hayley is a babe/10.

I think the simplest premises make for the best sitcoms. A lot of great writing and some very talented performers. Sure it went on for too long and the later seasons had garbage storylines, but even those episodes had some good jokes mixed in. Phil is an all-time great sitcom character.

Fantastically written and performed. Peaked in it's first couple of seasons and probably won't ever get back to that very high standard. Nonetheless the quality remains high. It feels like the end is in sight and it will be remembered as one of the best US sitcoms of recent years when it comes to an end. Some people seem to really hate it too which I quite like! Some marks removed for the infuriatingly shameless Apple adverts.
