Oh, you know, it's like a mixture of Requiem for a Dream, It Follows and Teeth as filmed from the perspective of the Predator's heat vision. It took me 37 years but I finally finished watching all of Paula E. Sheppard's filmography.

Whoa, that music is difficult to enjoy. Coupled with the lurid neon visuals, I was reminded of a time when I was feverish with an ear infection as a child. It's largely nonsense, full of wafty new-wave oddballs spouting wafty new-wave dialogue, but there's enough coherence and imagination to make it worth sticking with. I ended up quite enjoying it; it even hints at something deeper beneath the surface that might emerge on a subsequent viewing. Very culty, I think.

A film which shows that the movie doesn't actually have to be good to be highly enjoyable. One friend of mine dismissed this one as nothing but garishly made up trendy futurists doing drugs and having sex in NYC, I praised this for the same reason. There is a storyline of sorts about a flying saucer which comes to earth to score heroin and starts annihilating people. Male and female lead are played by the same actress. It's all very cultish.

I kinda loved this. It's a mess of pacing, but has a gritty, no-fucks brashness about it that I found impossible to dismiss. It may also be a potent witness to sexual abuse PTSD, but laced with heroin, aliens, androgyny, and new wave cultural posturing. Its daring and desire stick with you.

a deeply unpleasant and antagonistic film. I saw it at a midnight showing on highly scratched 35mm film. the sound nearly blew my ears off. I'm not sure I could recommend this film be watched any other way. the discordant attack on the senses demonstrates its value, and its depiction of anhedonic, suicidal misery all the more horrifying.

"Are you from Germany?" - "Yes, West Berlin" - "I am Jewish. So what do you think is the connection between heroin and aliens?". Incredibly stupid dialogue abounds in Liquid Sky but fits perfectly with the stupid punk makeup and fashion. It's trippy campy fun: watch with friends as I did and endless lulz are guaranteed, with or without the addition of MST3K-style audience commentary. The visuals are imaginative for a shoestring budget and the oddball synth music rules. The pacing is so-so.

There's perhaps an interesting film somewhere here, as some of the scenes are enjoyable to watch and the connections between aliens, drug use, sex, sexuality, and fashion seem at least half-baked. This is also uber-'80s camp fun, featuring some startling costumes, sets, and effects. However, this is often horribly made, as it contains some very stilted acting, some incredibly silly dialogue/scenarios, horrendous editing (that often interrupts scenes), and probably the worst electro-score ever.

Incredibly authentic. From cringey art performance to drug use, you get that these people know the scene. A snapshot of a time and place that only existed for a flash and can never return. Loved it.

Haunting, bizarre and fascinating. One of those cult films that you either dislike or fully embrace. The shots of 1980s NYC are unreal.

Odd mix of artsy statement, satire and unintentional comedy. A feminist, new wave bunch of fucking nonsense, grotesquely inflated in length, but the good bits and sheer weirdness make it worth sticking with.

This movie is a massive cheesefest in every sense of the word. It is quirky enough to be interesting though (hence the 5 stars instead of 4), and is certainly original to the point that I could certainly imagine some enjoying this multiple times. Again, for the moment I've decided to include it as a cyberpunk flick, but I'm sorely tempted to move it to the "not cyberpunk" category. Even though the visuals qualify in a strange way, there is no cyberpunk themes to speak of here.

one of my top five guilty pleasures. My favourite character is Vince the disco guy who only talks the talk about the coke. Wow that was the most refreshing review I've ever written.

A film with an undeserved cult reputation, presumably because it is set among punks and junkies; otherwise it is tediously plotted and poorly written and acted, dealing with unattractive characters in an unpleasant environment.

This is one of the movies that takes 80ies fashion and mindscape to most extreme. It's amateurish for the most part, still it deserves attention. Identity crisis debates are a lot of fun.

A trip of the strangest kind. You will never forgive your brain. Yes, it's a tad amateurish and silly, but also, in many ways, unforgettable.

Synopsis describes it in the best way lol: Invisible aliens in a tiny flying saucer come to Earth looking for heroin. They land on top of a New York apartment inhabited by a drug dealer and her female, androgynous, bisexual nymphomaniac Lover. Hypnotic new-wave soundtrack and visual style. What a pity that it dragged so much at times that it was hard to sit through. Maybe a rewatch at some stage?

Austere Soviet existentialism meets downtown Manhattan hedonism. As a singularly bizarre cinematic experience, it's something to behold. But to be enjoyed? That's a trickier question!

Some movies are so bad they're good. This one doesn't ever reach those levels. It's got poor acting, a rather silly story, and a soundtrack from a bargain basement arcade. I was counting the minutes until this one ended.

It's pure trash. Just like the degenerates who play in it. It's a feminist woke crap movie, filled with hatred of men and masculinity in general. This garbage film it's nothing but a propaganda for homosexuality, transdegenerate filth, lesbianism, sexual fornication, rape, drugs, murder. Truly disturbing and sickening, there is really nothing to it, except an extremely sad example of a horrifyingly mentally ill society. It's dark, it's evil, it's garbage. I certainly don't recommend watching it.

BlurayRip RARBG.

The best that can be said of this, is that it gives an excellent insight into the avant-garde early 80 New York New Wave scene including the exuberant costumes and make-up. But the bad acting, wooden line deliveries, pseudo-intellectual rumblings of this put me off too much to enjoy this. It just proofs that hipster junkies in the early 80s also found themselves to be way more important and smarter than they really are. Not my cup of tea alas.

Not sure what I just watched but I loved the atmosphere. The beating soundtrack really marches the movie forward. Didn't realize Anne Carlisle was playing two characters. Dialogue is quite bad. I'll probably like this less upon rewatch or deeper thought about the film's messaging. Paula E. Sheppard MVP. Fav scene: Margaret's showdown with Jimmy.
