In 1979, it was Geroge Burns, Art Carney, and Lee Strasberg complaining about how they were too old for this shit. 38 years later, it was Alan Arkin, My Cocaine, and the Voice of God. In 2055, it will be the shriveled head of McCaulay Culkin, Mark Whalburg's toupee, and a Sony Aibo. End it NOW.

A lovely reminder of what treasures the starring trio are; all three men create poignant and believable characters from a sometimes tired and trite screenplay; Ann-Margret proves what an untapped resource she has been as a charming "gal pal" for Arkin. Braff's direction is fairly simple and straightforward (with some nods in the direction of Soderbergh via split screens) - the film itself is light and good natured enough for you not to consider the questionable ethics of our heroes.

This movie is... fine. It's entertaining enough, but the twist is pretty dumb and Zach Braff's attempts to impart deeper meaning on the events falls flat.

In a word: enyoyable Not world-shatttering, or "Hamlet", or "best heist EVAR" or all that good stuff, but a very good waste of a couple of hours. Especially memorable was the acting, the way Caine or Freeman can let you know what thet are thinking/feeling when the writer shuts up. BUT: nothing wronf with the writing, some classic lines delivered with the panache you'd expect if you're only bnrowsing thru'

It certainly lacked the heart that I was expecting from a Zach Braff film (though to be fair it wasn't written by him), but I certainly like the three lead actors and it is an enjoyable and heartwarmingly-fun, if somewhat harmless, film. You'll definitely leave with a smile on your face, and there's not much else you want from a film like this.

Not at all good but fairly inoffensive. The main leads were charming and well cast but they had to work with a pretty crappy script and the jokes fell really flat for the most part. Thankfully the movie didn't try to push some mundane or pretentious sentimentality but that doesn't keep it from being formulaic and predictable.

I know this is supposed to be a fun little caper film for old people to laugh at stereotypes of themselves but it's honestly just depressing. A film only possible in the disgusting capitalist society we live. The ending is happy for a couple people but what about the rest of the people at the factory? The rest of the people that this is happening to? Ugh.

Zach Braff helms a remake of a relatively forgotten late-70's caper. The whole old guy crime movie has been done several times over, not including the original, one of which even had Arkin. Interestingly, this one bears the name and about a sentence of plot in common with the original, but not much else. Regardless of lack of originality, there's decent amount of charm in this one and pleasant twist at the end, a sunshiny ending, and all three leads work together fantastically.

It's hard do defend this movie, so I won't. Nor will I criticize it.

A remake of the George Burns and Art Carney classic, though a little more light hearted. Simple, light, and fun, just as a movie like this should be.

Well, as a grandad with health / wealth issues, a desire to get back at the suits, and, I hope, a dry SoH, I am the right demographic to really enjoy this - and I did! I am pretty sure no one was supposed to believe any of this, especially the heist itself, as it required a totally gullible Dillon (does he play any other part?) to make sure they got away with this, but it was fun from start to finish, and proved what experienced actors can bring to the silver screen. (do they still have those?)

Lazy writing. The entire premise of the movie ignores the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, as well as the Pension & Benefits Guaranty Corp. And, as soon as the one guy admits his gun only had blanks in it, there's nothing to stop people from rushing them, as they're not given the sympathetic, albeit excessively labored backstory we were.

Nice feelgood movie, good heist film. Obviously not nearly as brilliant as the ones Braff wrote himself - overall look included - but very good and fun indeed. And who wouldn't be able to get it up for Ann-Margret, let's be honest...

Then there's the central conceit of the film itself: three old guys robbing a bank. It's silly and preposterous, of course. And we're not really meant to overthink the morality of it. After all, the film wants us to believe, these old guys have been wronged and they're just trying to right that wrong. Never mind if their strategy is also wrong, the film wants to say. But even if Going In Style is intended to be a whimsical farce, it still plants a troubling seed: that successfully robbing a ban

Nothin' wrong with this, nothin' great about this outside of the chemistry between Freeman, Caine and Arkin. Seriously, the script was pretty good and funny as a whole, but because they put 3 great actors together it put it up a notch. I mean, as I said coming out, I don't LOVE it but I certainly enjoyed it... and sometimes that's all you need.

This is just a fun time, and that's where all discussion of this movie basically begins and ends. It's an intentionally-unrealistic buddy-heist romp in the spirit of "The Little Old Lady Who Broke All The Rules", and that's all it's trying to be; in that, it succeeds on the strengths and undeniable chemistry of Freeman, Caine, and Arkin. Is it particularly incredible at any one thing, or even as the sum of its parts? Not really. But it's very watchable, and you could do worse this weekend.
