For the last seven years I have hosted a 24 hour horror movie marathon, and this year the theme was anthologies. By day's end we had watched somewhere around 80+ horror shorts through 14 anthologies. It worked tremendously as the short form demanded attention and rewarded it as well. If you were ever unhappy, wait twenty minutes and there's a new story being told. This was a fun one to follow Scare Package, keeping things light with longer shorts. Carpenter great as host, cameos fun, Keach hair!

There are those of us who just have it in our blood to need a cameo filled horror anthology primarily directed by John carpenter as the man himself guides us through with funerary dad jokes. The hair segment is truly a must see bit for anyone still on board after my first sentence. The other two less so, but still...cameos.

Lots of fun. Carpenter was really great and both of his segments were solid. The weak point Hooper's which didn't work for me quite as well but it was still alright

A horror anthology with two interesting shorts, and one decent but generic one, with a decent horror host. Worth a watch if you're a fan of horror anthologies.

Campy low-budget fun with a very interesting cast. Unfortunately, spotting the cameos is more entertaining than the stories at some points.

The audio mixing is surprisingly awful; the music drowns out most of the dialogue. What is this, Tenet? Body Bags is great for a game of Spot the Cameo. The first segment is a little too basic and brings nothing to the table. I found the second segment to be really funny; Stacy Keach is hilarious as the balding man desperate to get his hair back. The third segment is where Tobe Hooper steps in and delivers the best all-around short. Mark Hamill's performance is quite good.

A fairly unimpressive, but easily watchable horror short collection with some pretty neat appearances by some of the most famous horror directors of all time. It's hard to recommend a movie based on cameos, rather than entertainment, but for a horror lover, some of these cameos WERE entertainment.

The Gas Station holds up just because of its simplicity. Even Hair, which is mostly just meh, holds up when viewed as a short Twilight Zone styled story. Carpenter is a fun Cryptkeeper but the writing needed a jolt; the jokes aren't funny for the jokes, they're funny because it's John Carpenter being a ham. This probably would've grown into its own had Showtime given it a chance.

Not my favorite collection of horror shorts, but definitely not the worst. The middle film is a lot of fun, but the wraparound and the bookend films are so-so. Points for having so many horror icons as cameos.

Not bad low rent "Tales from the Crypt" knock off. There's some fun to be had here and the stories are pretty good but the humor isn't funny and I found myself bored half the time.

Two interesting short stories dealing mostly with body horror issues and an irregular one about a clerk slasher seemed enjoyable but not great, while the cameos -- at least the ones I managed to recognize -- were fun as hell.

Three short semi-comedic horror films combine into this entertaining look at the dark side. Some of the best in Hollywood come together to tell these miniature Shakespearian dramas in the Steven King style but with less perversity. In the drama of humanity versus death, death wins.

John Carpenter's hosting the anthology as a coroner was cheesy and fun. The first segment had a great setting that I wish was there for a feature length film. The second segment made me laugh many times until it made me gag. The final segment was enjoyable as well.

Failed attempt to launch a new horror series, Body Bags was made when its principal creators were seriously down on their luck, and it desperately shows. None of the stories are particularly good, but at least the one with Keach about an insecure balding man has some originality and a black sense of humour, which was presumably constrained by the TV format of the time. Carpenter is a likeable ham as the zombie mortician host, but there isn't much cause for celebration here.
