Legion follows the story of David Haller, a troubled young man who may be more than human. Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he's confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real. (rottentomatoes.com)

I think that I had unrealistic expectations, but one of my favourite Marvel creations (Legion) together with the genius behind the Fargo series, revved me up for a bonanza. The 4th and the 5th episodes are out of this World, and the whole Lenny creation is brilliant. But there are other parts that just stutters. You here "David, Davidd" so many times it starts to grate you. Nevertheless, it is a very enjoyable experimental work with some mind-blowing parts.

Starts with a strong pilot but descends into a kind of low-budget Inception all about memories and traumas. Memories/dreams/whatever get nested so deep that it's hard to care about anything that's happening.

The cinematography was insanely good, but the plot alternated between confusing me and boring me, until the point I realized I didn't care about this series at all and should simply stop watching. A case of trying too halrd to be artsy.

[Full series] Stylistically this show is an easy 10 out of 10. There is an overabundance of visual inventiveness and directorial flair. It portrays the powers of several characters in ways that are way more fun and engaging than that in the bigger, more expensive movies. The main antagonist is exquisitely delightful and my favorite. The show falters when it tries to be substantive; characters feel thinly drawn and it is never as emotionally engaging as it wants. Has a satisfactory ending.

season 1: great! 97/100 season 2: uhh... 85/100 season 2 is very drawn out.. a few lines of script drawn into a 8 minute scene in slow mo. no where near as compelling as season 1. not sure what happened. i realize after 20 episodes, i don't really care about any of these characters. season 3.. tried ep1 then quit. i could tell it'd be a waste of my time.

(S1 and S2) Hawley's idiosyncratic pulse keeps the series sprightly and intriguing. Each episode is a barrage of gimmicks, experiments, and schemes that promise they're philosophical. It's sometimes easy to forget the show isn't as deep as it alleges. For every three or four stylish surprises, there's a glaring error. Like a Southland Tales shaped-blemish on an Enter the Void face. The best Marvel show. Still, it could be much, much worse and still secure that spot.

Ever see "Shutter Island"? Ever wish it were 8 hours long? This is like a superhero art film. It's like "Inception" + "Eternal Sunshine" + "Shutter Island" + "X-Men". After the 4th episode I was very excited about the show. Then after the 6th episode I was pretty much done with it. Hours and hours and hours of slow-motion dream sequences. Who thought that was a good idea? I spent the last 2 episodes on the Internet with it playing in the background just to get the first season over with.

Starts great, dwindles around the middle and ends pretty good. Could have been cut in half and season two could have been a couple of episodes tops. Season three gets it back on track and the ending is satisfactory enough.

It started strong and interesting. S01 was great. Then in S02 they started producing the stupidest episodes that were more annoying than fun. Rachel Keller is so very beautiful in this. Aubrey Plaza was wild and crazy. They lost their steam after S01, and it was very disappointing to see it turn into a endless confusion and intentional nonsense of S02. Season 3 redeemed itself and ended well. It's a strange mix of really good and really bad episodes. Maybe good to just skip S02.

S1:65 | S2:65 | An excellent first episode that suggests this may have been better as a movie. Legion often feels like Inception and Mr. Robot (with more weirdness and less plot) rolled into one, sometimes with music video like scenes for the sake of art. Visually, it’s impressive. The characters are pretty good as well, but the plot is stretched out a lot more than it needs to be. I really like Hawley as a director, but between this and Fargo, I don’t think he’s one of my favorite writers

This show is equally brilliant and WTF at the same time. The editing and cinematography are quite possibly the best I've seen in TV, but the story can sometimes be too hard to follow. However, the actors are all solid throughout.

Legion isn't afraid to be experimental, and that's what makes it stand out. Interestingly, it's 1 of 3 post X-men projects released in 2017 (alongside Logan and The Gifted). Often slow and seemingly directionless (like a music video), the show tends to come together by each season's end. Stevens & Plaza deliver great performances, Keller is mesmerising (though her arc is horribly written). When it works the show's great, and when it doesn't there's enough to like though it can feel alienating.

Season 1 looks and sounds great, but the characters have no real weight to them, and the story is repetitive and mostly irrelevant. Could have been easily reduced from 8 to 4 episodes, without missing anything important. The ending is just shameless and disappointing.

(S1). It's just not my cup of tea. They have an incredible story line, fantastic characters and it takes like 4 episodes to get even moving. All these episodes could have been done in 1 or 2. The last 2 episodes iget slightly more on track. All in all disappointing compared to my PSI. (S2) Even more disappointing. The only episode I enjoyed was the one with the alternative timelines. Each of those timelines looked much more promising as the current one.

(S1) Not as innovative as people make it out to be. Getting rid of the mental illness angle results in a typical (albeit really well directed and acted) superhero story.

Witty, smart, psychedelic, great atmosphere and music. The story's premise is a little thin, so form, acting and ambiance should make up for that. And they do.

Season 1: Some of the most immersive television I've ever seen. See this on as large a screen as possible and lock in. Season 2: Tests the patience at times with its long-winded nature, but it seems comfortable being frustratingly complex. The love story is my favorite element. Payoff is worthwhile though admittedly predictable.

A darker, more psychological yet fresher exploration of the Marvel universe which is truly wacky and wonderful. Aubrey Plaza is something else in this too. Minor quibbles aside, this is a pretty great series and I'm definitely tuning in to season 2.
