Ruddy brilliant. The character and the humor transfer perfectly to the big screen. Massive kudos to Coogan for keeping the character alive for 20 years without a single misfire. Back of the net!

Pretty much everything I hoped for and more. "Lynn agreed that she'd talked out of her station and Alan promised never to mention it again."

Ridiculously lightweight and flimsy. At no point does either the story or the any of the material really justify a cinema release. Even so, it's very funny, very often and Coogan is on good form

Very funny - Steve Coogan is great and film is peppered with the usual quirky and likeable side characters. It was well paced, with a witty script and a few visual gags.

"Back of the net", indeed. Utterly hilarious, and probably the year's best comedy, in my book. A brilliantly honed screenplay that delivers several laughs a minute, and committed, uproarious performances by Coogan, Key, and Meaney.

By extrapolating to blockbuster conventions it kind of fails to deliver the brilliance of the original Partridge material

Usually dread feature-length films of tv comedy shows, but this, despite bracing the inevitability of being just too long and busy, is pretty well done.

This movie, having been my introduction to Alan Partridge, gives the audience a general overview of the immensely popular Steve Coogan character. Alan Partridge, unbeknownst to most Americans, is a popular persona created by Coogan to poke fun at middle class English conservatives. The plot of the movie does a good job of setting up the Partridge character for those not familiar with him. For the most part the character is self-centered and brash but there are also endearing moments.

Didn't think an Alan Partridge film could work this well. Recommended watching for fans of the series.

There are some occasional signs that the writers struggled trying to fit Partridge into a feature-length narrative and the film somewhat lacks staying power, but those are very minor concerns when the film honestly might be one of the best comedies of the 2010s, if we're judging purely by laugh count.

Partridge works surprisingly well in a feature length movie. Even for those not familiar with any of his series.

Alpha Papa is lightweight, simplistic and won't please everyone but fans of Partridgs will lap it up. It must be said Colm Meaney's fantastic.

Alan Partridge's transition from tv to film is effortless and for me the long awaited gamble pays off convincingly. This is prime Partridge doing what he does best in a film that feels like a 90 minute long episode that doesn't take itself too seriously. The scripting is spot on and the one liners are thick and fast as expected. The attention to detail is perfect and as British TV to film transitions go this is one of the better ones. Quotable and true to form Partridge. Back of the net!!!!!

The tellyshow seems so long ago my expectations were pretty low. Feature-length doesn't feel ideal but they still got it.

It could have been a total disaster considering this is a film which may not really reach past a target demographic of Alan Partridge Fans but it's actually rather welcoming to newcomers, and provides a good showcase for Coogan's always excellent performance - bringing together the best elements of all the previous Partridge material in a nice, standalone piece which is consistently funny and actually has a story too - is this the one time Alan Partridge gets an actual character arc? I hope not.

Quite amusing. There really is something endearing about Steve Coogan's Alan Partridge, even when the character is being self-involved and obnoxious...I think it's Steve Coogan.

"I am Siege Face". Solid movie from the former host of Knowing Me, Knowing You. And I agree with one point made in the movie, syndicated radio is shit.

A good time if you like dry, witty British humor. Depends largely on your tolerance for Steve Coogan, whose character is the movie pretty much.

Yet, sadly, like Partridge's own broadcast career, Alpha Papa is a movie which never quite reaches the heights it should have leaving a feeling of "what could have been". The film, like the outcome for Partridge at it's conclusion, represents only a modest triumph.

There are laughs to be had here but overall the script and story are incredibly lazy, with the chuckles popping up in isolated patches. Partridge is one of the all-time great comedy creations but arguably jumped the shark years ago, and has now just comes across as a halfhearted caricature of his former self. As a fan (who this picture is solely designed for - newcomers will be totally lost), I hope this is the last we see of him.

Some hilarious YouTube clips from the TV series lead me to see this movie. Overall, I have to say that I was pretty impressed. There's just something about the Alan Partridge character that keeps you engaged. The witty plot leads into some pretty wacky situations and the humor is innocent. Coogan and Meaney are both terrific on screen. Fans of British humor will most likely be satisfied. Alan Partridge without question gets a recommendation from me. 4 STARS

Very difficult to rate, given my love for the original show. There's enough here to make this an enjoyable experience throughout, but I also get the sense that with the pressures that come with film's wider audience that Coogan smoothed a few of the rough edges off of Partridge. This could also be related to aging (Coogan's or Partridge's or both), but the film gives no indication of that. While amusing throughout, the film always has a sense that it is aiming for something just out of its reach

I haven't seen the original show, which I guess was a disadvantage, but funny enough downplayed British version of Airhead none the less...
