This is probably the less inspired Aardman has ever been. The script is totally bland and lacking the smart of other Nick Park films. I would watch Were-Rabbit twice instead of this.

Does its job and is silly throughout which puts it above a majority of the children's films I've seen recently. I require two things from these movies as I sit with my son. The first is some form of entertainment value that isn't squarely plot as we'll get to that eventually but neither of us are in any hurry. The second is a strong morality theme that helps instill...no, it's popcorn. The second thing is popcorn.

Early Man is entertaining, though I still feel as if I were tricked into watching a film about football. At first it feels like an animated rip-off of Year One but quickly manages to find its own beat and tell its own story. The voice acting is actually pretty great as I couldn't actually identify the actors, which makes a nice change from American animated films. Overall, it's cute but not groundbreaking.

What's not to like in a football animation made by Aardman? Ok, this sounds pretty childish and maybe it's too much of a family movie to please older crowds, but it really works. Cave, rabbit-hunting men invented football and now have been expelled from their valley by bronze age men. They challenge them to a football match to claim their land back. So many cute gags here -- a pig dog that surely barks, a giant duck, a girl that teaches cave men to play, instant replay with puppets, queen OFEEFA

Early Man isn't quite as evolved as Aardman's best work, but still retains the unique visuals and sweet humor that have made the studio a favorite among animation enthusiasts.

The underdog sports plot couldn't be any more generic or uninspired; fortunately, there's enough enjoyable humour smattered throughout to keep you engaged regardless, including plenty of silly slapstick (the delightful claymation makes it even better), groaner puns (i.e. Early-Man-United), and goofy one-liners ("Sliced bread? That's the best thing since, well, ever!"), made all the better by the charming British voice work (the banter between the dim cavepeople is consistently funny).

A pleasant kids' film, but not an especially exciting one. It brings all the elements we associate with Aardman - British humour, puns, goofy characters with a Plasticene look, and top quality stop motion animation. Visually, it's a triumph and the lighting in some scenes ought to win an award. However, the football-centric story never deviates from sports movie cliché, and honestly the first 20 minutes are the freshest. Decently entertaining but real pity about the lack of risk and originality

A film advertised as a comedy about "early man" (see title, trailers etc.) but is in fact 90% about football...arghhhhh (definitely the weakest of the Aardman films).

My first time being the only attendee at a film screening. This allowed me to play on my phone a lot.

To say that I'm completely and utterly indifferent towards football (soccer) and everything related to the sport is putting it mildly. And even though I expected this to be pretty daft, I certainly did not expect it to be a sports movie. Very disappointing.

Light, goofy and insignificant, this film struggles to warrant its own existence. The animation is weirdly subdued and the stop-motion is made less impressive by the mid-level CGI effects, while the lack of plot makes the shaggy sports hero parody that just kinda happens at the start of the second act come across as bland. It just kinda meanders around and makes a few Manchester United/Real Madrid puns, the best of which aren't much more than something to smirk at.

Some tiresomely familiar plot beats aside, Early Man is breezy, chuckle-a-minute entertainment from the kings of breezy, chuckle-a-minute entertainment.

Flat as a flash frozen french fried flittermouse. The kids weren't even laughing, at any of it.

I'm a huge Aardman fan, but this is a really weak effort. The fact that it's a stealth underdog sports movie isn't the problem as I'm quite fond of that genre too, it just isn't funny with most of the jokes and situations really forced and laboured, rather than witty and creative which are the usual hallmarks of Aardman efforts.

Mostly cute, kooky fun with weird animations. A few comical moments, but mostly just childish story and antics. Worth watching but not particularly spectacular in any way. The pantomime replay theater was amusing.

I think this is the closest I've found a movie with a football theme fun, but Early Man (2018) could have been so much more. Likable, even if obviously underwhelming for those that adore themselves some 'Wallace & Gromit' style animation.

Well, that was a completely forgettable experience. I missed most of the puns. The French-puns seemed a bit forced and the story was rather lackluster. It definitely did not have any of the endearing qualities of other Aardman productions, nor did the scenery seem as detailed and thought-through as it usually does.

Good fun. Not Aardman's best, but their best is Curse of the WereRabbit so that's a high bar. It fills the time just fine.

A nice slice of good fun, courtesy of Aardman; it's not the best the studio has to offer, but delivers the usual winning combination of goofy puns (visual and otherwise) and a darkly sardonic sensibility. Excellent voice work from a first rate cast, with Hiddleston especially amusing as the venal Lord Nooth.

Not thrilled about being tricked into a movie about football, but I guess kids can love it anyway. I am nicer to kids' movies. Beyond the fact it's a plain sport movie, one has to give credit to the voice acting, the work in the animation, and some of jokes. The way the Flintstones made modern technology out of dinos. Some of the designs are neat.

I'm not much interested of the history/references of football. There existed the sympathy of Nick Park characters and the fine work of the real stop-motion artwork during International CGI animation.

Aardman's feature films can be a bit hit-or-miss; this definitely misses. The animation and voice work are excellent as usual and there are some funny jokes but the story is weak and the setting just doesn't make any sense: I don't demand historical accuracy in a kid's film but some kind of internal logic or coherence would be nice: when and where the hell is this supposed to be?

It's definitely the weakest film from Aardman, it is very predictable and slightly uninspired, but Early Man still features some funny slapstick gags and jokes that should keep children and their parents entertained.

The usual route one Aardman stuff, with layer after layer of extra jokes behind that you suddenly start noticing half way through. However, a little overly goofy for my taste.

a British ideological self-rightious product for the masses - Aardman and Park became institution and so they started to make movie glorifying the other more sacried institutions - the soccer and the so fair and nice and good (and real looking) queen.

Aardman always delivers in technical aspects, but aside from Hiddleston's hilarious romanesque centurio character, I can't recall anything particularly funny or rememberable about this movie. Caveman humor may be effective to people who find value in lowest common denominator comedy, but for me the slapstick and "what is a toothbrush" got old fast.

Ali Topu at. Ali Topu tut. Tut topu tut. Bu filmi unut.

Given the artistry going in to even getting this ready visually, I hate to call this bland. But it is. The writing is decidedly below average here. For every inspired pun or visual gag (and there aren't many), there are many, many minutes that go by without any strong connection to the characters, the story, or the laughs. Too bad.
