Mary Katherine Gallagher is an awful, awful character - even a four minute sketch seems to drag on forever when she is the focus, so this movie is quite unbearable.

While this movie is super cliched and pretty bad overall, it is funny as hell and incredibly quotable. I love it. If you are looking for an intelligent comedy, you won't find it here. But whatever, it is super fun.

This movie took over my elementary school , more so the trailer which was played nonstop for way too long so there was basically a school yard of kids holding their hands in their armpits and smelling them and going SUPERSTAR.

Just about the worst SNL movie, and that is a very, very strong statement.

It's most certainly crap, and yet I found myself not hating it. It has a fair amount of one-liners that I think are funny and I can't really say I was disappointed because I went in expecting it to be bad. I feel like I'm giving this a higher score than this deserves but I can't help it.

Literally the only part that made me laugh was the grandmother giving dance instructions toward the end of the movie. Beyond that, it's just painful to watch, and the way it treats people with mental health issues is pretty abysmal (guess a lot's changed in the last 17 years.)

There are very few good movies adapted from SNL skits. This is not one of those few.

I wasn't expecting much. I just wanted her to shout "Superstah!" and clumsily spin around, knock shit over; I kept the bar low. Ferrell's turn as Jesus was the apostatical touch, total groaner. It did lead me to reading the first "Monument 14" book... which was a little better than this movie, but mostly intriguing because a sidekick character went on to pen post-apocalyptica.

As many have observed, the SNL sketch on which this is based does not warrant a full-length movie. Molly Shannon clearly has so much more going on than any of her, um, "classmates" with whom she is so unpopular that the whole just doesn't really work. Biggest mistake (of many big ones): not giving Glynis Johns more to do.

Çılgın ve manyak 1 komedi. Katolik okulunda okuyan Mary, ilk öpücüğünü okulun popüler çocuğu Sky'ı öpmek ister. Bu hiper aktif gençler tamamen kendini kaybedecektir. Molly Shannon ve Will Ferrell çok komik. Yemekhane dans sahnesi de iyiydi. Abartının dozu kaçmış. Filmi basite düşürmüş. Yine boş vakitte keyifle izlenir. Popcorn filmi. Filmin sonunda, zührevi hastalıklar için yetenek yarışması. Alttan biyle yellene yellene ese ese dolaşıyorum.

Silly slice of SNL extender is far from the worst of similar tries, but it can’t really succeed either because it never establishes its ground rules of normalcy, making it difficult to become invested in the character's plight, (Shannon really wants us to love this oddball character). Some isolated moments work quite well as set pieces (Ferrell’s vain clod is just about perfect, and Johns (RIP) handles the “dotty grandma” archetype with style), but overall its lack of momentum does it in.

A decently funny film from SNL however Molly Shannon cannot quite carry her own film as WIll Farell Mike Myers or Adam Sandler could.

I think a lot of the SNL skits turned into movies turn out bad not because the concept is unfunny, but because the concept doesn't lend itself to a full length film. Particularly when the most generic plots are just put in as frame work for the character to do wacky things they did on the show. It's kinda like the later Pirates of the Caribbean films where they only exist for Johnny Depp to be a wacky character where the first was a legit story that happened to have that character.

SNL skits rarely make good movies. This is no exception. The skit is hilarious because you don't give a shit Molly Shannon is like 40. The movie... not so much.

Molly is obviously very talented & i look forward to seeing her do something better. This is amusing to be sure & has a few laughs. The music video editing style is sometimes just making up for stuff that isn't all that funny. Had a good time. One non-sexual use of the word "fuck."

A Night at the Roxbury could at least claim it was "so bad it's funny" (granted that was intentional) in parts. But this... this is just trying to be so bad it's funny but just ends up being plain bad. I think I might have laughed once, maybe.

This sketch was funny when it lasted for 5 minutes on SNL, even then it was only truly funny for 3 of those 5 minutes. Stretched out into movie form, the story of Mary Katherine Gallagher is everywhere and nowhere. It's not fun to watch even when it has it's moments of humor.
