Good but somewhat overrated series that won't surprise anyone familiar with older, more subversive superhero stories like Watchmen, or even The Incredibles. The graphic violence gets your attention but feels at odds with all the cringey and clichéd "why can't you be honest with me" teen drama going on. I got plenty of that in Smallville, thanks.

Invincible starts off with an intriguing mystery and then takes its solution hostage to drag you through one boring, cliché-ridden filler episode after another. The voice acting is mediocre, the humour is cringeworthy and consists of woke twitter references. The only funny thing about the show are the animations, which are comically bad. Oh and the solution to that mystery I mentioned? It's even dumber than I thought. Don't waste your time.

Cannot praise this show enough. It's the best superhero property out there. I just wish some of the animation and art assets were better. Also they tried to turn the character of Amber into something more than a placeholder love interest, and inadvertently made her an insufferable and abusive know-it-all instead. That can't be what the show's producers were TRYING to do, but that's what they did, which speaks poorly of them ... Anyway, I bet she dies eventually so she doesn't bother me too much.

I usually find superhero stuff boring because you feel like no matter how hard they get pummeled, they will never die. this series does not have that problem.

As perfect as a show can get. It sets the bar high early on with a big twist and the voice cast a long with the animation really carries the show forward. It's different because they establish a core of likable characters with secrets that will be revealed. All the while those characters happen to be superheroes secondarily. That's why it is much better than most. It's about real people with conflicts and it works absolutely perfectly. Solid acting and animation. Cannot wait for more.

It is one of those series that I don't understand the hype about. I remember reading the comics a while ago and they are interesting with a nice misdirection (that comes around 8th issue though). The animation style is what kills this series for me; those undetailed, generic drawings remove all the emotional impact of the events. The premise is interesting and every now and then it comes up with interesting twists; but everything is so derivative of Marvel/DC universes that it lacks character.

They added blood to a cheap kids cartoon and thought that was enough to make it something for grown-ups.

I have the same problems with Invincible that I do most anime. It looks cheap as hell, half the voice-acting cast is great, the other seems checked-out, and plot is a mish-mash of different ideas which don't coalesce. I hate that every time something interesting happens, Invincible has to be dragged back into high-school melodrama focusing on the most obvious and predictable developments. I just can't be bothered to care about something that adds nothing to an over-saturated superhero genre.

Two wildly different shows in one, where one is so much more intriguing than the other. Invincible does well what usually is done poorly in teenage shows and does poorly what is usually done well. The Omni-Man plotline works in chilling, bone-crunching fashion but the teenage drama is tepid and underwritten. Trying to invoke teen show emotion with the soundtrack only highlights how passionless it is. Voice work ranges from great (Yeun, Goggins) to distracting familiarity (Jacobs, Mantzoukas).

Easily the best superhero show I've ever seen. Maybe even ever made. The animation isn't the best, but the writing is fantastic. And the last few episodes of season 3 were fantastic.

A complete waste of time and talent. Except for the opening fight, the violence is mostly blood. Female characters have no details if they're not romantically involved, and even then it's just to fridge them. The escalation is entirely in how hard a character can hit others: at no point are there creative villains, emotional struggles, nor effects on the world. Everything is, somehow, less sophisticated than AXE COP, especially the egregiously bad 4th-wall break. Liking this lessens you.

Such a strange vibe. It's a children's cartoon in style, writing and substance, but with swearing and over the top violence. There is no nuance to the story at all. A stellar voice cast deliver mostly quite lacklustre performances, with only JK Simmons ever really delivering much actual range and depth. It's vaguely interesting but not worth the hype.

Tried to watch it a couple of times. First time I gave up after one episode, the second time around I managed to watch six. I don't see what the big deal is, the show is such a typical superhero snoozefest that, struggle as I might, I can't stay interested.

The most fun part was figuring out the casting, but then once I had it was actually distracting. I watched 2 episodes with someone who wanted to re-watch S1 but I mildly upset them by easily guessing the entire plot.

With superhero stories flooding both the TV and movie markets, Invincible markets itself as a superhero story with a twist-- what if superheroes... but ultraviolent and dark??? This might seem novel to some viewers unaccustomed to 90's comic trends, but even then this feels tired considering works like Injustice and The Boys coming out. A boring concept gives birth to a boring show with tired dark comedy and stiff action. The much lauded episode 1 fight feels like a Newgrounds short.

I often like animation because it's paced more episodically. I can't stand shows like Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad, which have a half-dozen parallel plots that each advance a scene or two each episode, and that's how this show is. I kept watching anyway because the premise is really neat, and they explore it well so I don't regret that. Also, the romantic sub-plot made me want to eat nails. Also also, if you watch this I hope you like blood and gore because like, HOLY shit.

(TV) Starts out brightly, riffing and ripping on well-trodden tropes - witty send ups of 80s and 90s cartoon and comics alike with the same sharp villain-of-the-week pacing. Unfortunately it later falls into similar pitfalls, esp. when protag inexplicably can't tell anyone he's a supe - the most tired and annoying genre conceit that doesn't jive with the otherwise urbane realism they're going for. Thereafter bitchy/underwritten character melodrama and edgy dialogue quickly becomes a drag.

S1: 95 | S2: 90 | Everything I wanted from The Boys, but done better. Likable characters, good twists, solid pacing, great voice cast, and excellent action/gore, not to mention the emotional beats are perfect. The animation does vary in quality due to budget, but I’d imagine future seasons fix that issue. Essential viewing for those who can handle violence, and worth checking out even for newcomers to animation. S2 has a weaker overarching plot, but is still great.

Already a top U.S. animated series after one season, if you are looking for simple yet effective storytelling with a great cast and lots of incredible violence, this is it. The only real flaws are some real inconsistency in the animation and some pacing issues , but neither threw me off for long.

As a big fan of the comic I'm mixed on this. Comparatively I think the show is visually boring in a way that the comic wasn't, which leads to a lot of huge scenes from the comic coming off as super limp here. Sometimes I agree with the changes such as how the Omni-Man twist was built but other things such as the Cecil/Mark buildup and various minor plot arcs just come off as substantially worse and very "did not get the point" in terms of adaption. Dare I say the writing is worse too?

Nice color scheme, cool choreographies, very catchy fiction/plot. Good at cliffhanging in short term. But nothing seems special in the long term. Also yes the animation is not that bad as everyone says but the effects and general texture design need a lot of improvement. Also, I think, the pacing is a bit weird, a super-fast start and then a very slow midsection than super fast 3-4 episodes. It's fine but the problem is being an R Rated Gore Fest tv series looks more important than everythin
