It's excellent and so close to being nearly flawless, if only the kids were better actors and Adam's evolution was handled with more care. But it's just lots of fun any time Sheen and Tennant are on screen together.

Sheen and Tennant are wonderful, and I would welcome a shorter version that shifted the focus onto their characters, where it belongs. But for the rest, it is almost insanely tedious and un-funny. Around five episodes in, when they have been teasing the end of the world for what feels like nine hours, you begin to wish they would just get on with it already, especially given that there isn't One Single Character in this thing worth saving. Sheen and Tennant are marvelous -- the rest not so much.

It's just too cutesy and urban, pop-culture UK vibes. The names are too cute. It reminds me of Berenstain Bears or Blues Clues with these names and "wacky" characters. Like the story was written based on prompts from an internet story generator with only 10 plots to algorithmically remix. Or like he got challenged by a friend to write a script based on their last game of Scrabble. Just too damned whimsical, yet tedious.

I really enjoyed the first 3 episodes, but the last 3 and specially the last one didn't match them. The ending seems rushed, too absurd even considering the comedy element of the series and sort of pointless. The children part was probably the worst and Anathema/Newt line seemed a bit irrelevant for the main story (though not bad itself). Acting is great, specially for the 2 main characters, whose part of the story is also the one less affected by the lower quality of the last episodes,

Thoroughly winning adaptation bounces along nicely, quite faithful to the novel with just a few (mostly welcome) additions or changes here and there. Smashing cast - Sheen and Tennant have great chemistry, I could watch McKean in anything, McDormand as the narrator/God is a mini masterstroke and even the kids are impressive. Some surprising cameos, a fine score by David Arnold and fabulous title animation that you will rewind and watch again, and again.

Unravels a bit in the final 3 episodes, but Tennant and particularly Sheen just about keep this ticking over.

Good Omen, the book, is the fruit of a collaborative effort between Gaiman and Pratchett. This TV mini-series is a 'nice and accurate' adaptation that captures the quirkiness, humour and fantasy delightfully. Sheen and Tennant are perfect. Arjona is great, as are the litany of English actors. The kids are a little annoying but alright. McKean does a good job, but at times both his character and Scottish accent are a wee bit grating. The narration is my only real qualm. Otherwise a great ride.

This show tackles diversity beautifully. That’s the best thing about it. The respect to pronouns, queer people, people of color, minorities; it all feels natural. Sheen and Tennant did wonderfully.

I totally buy into Sheen and Tennant's double act lasting for thousands of years, they feel so effortless in each other's company. S1 - The child actors are a drag but overall just great S2 - lacks the epic story arc, but feels more settled in what the series wants to do. Stand out moments: The Jane Austin Shopkeepers Association Ball and the amazing use of opening and closing credits in the storytelling.

A love story of the ages, literally. The Gaiman comes as an aftertaste, Good Omens is definitely Pratchett forward and if you're not into proper cynical Brit humour, you'll be amiss watching this.

Another product of the British cottage industry of twee and disjointed television that is also quite cheaply made. Good performances but never quite loses the sense of watching a slightly embarrassed and embarrassing bit of panto.

Falls for the trap of both everything being bonkers and everyone acts bonkers. It's just too much. I thought it sucked from the first scene I saw until I quit before the end of the 2nd episode. A shame, because the book is regarded as an all-time classic.

More focused than book. However, wtf were Aziraphael and Crowley kissing at the end? They weren't an item in the book. Seriously, enough of that, not everyone on this planet is gay, it's become so tired. And it's not that I can't deal with it, it's that it's shoehorned into every damn story these days. Let's just boycott that crap.

The acting is good, but I am not a fan of the adaptation. The narrator provides far too much of the information, and often it feels like they're just filling in chunks by reading from the book. Making the narrator into a 'voice of God' also doesn't play out in any meaningful way. The ending is also meandering and points towards an unnecessary sequel.

Couldn't Neil Gaiman just have kept writing the American Gods screenplay instead of this tripe? Sure, Tennant and Sheen are occasionally funny, but good God the screenplay just feels so fucking cringey. I get that maybe this is meant to be a family show, but you need not be so saccharine to be kid-friendly. Though the real stinker is the finale, which not only drags needlessly, but also seems keen on reusing every afterschool-special cliche in the book. Hitchhiker's Guide this isn't.

Not the biggest fan of the plot, I definitely don't hate it, but it doesn't distinguish itself. However, it definitely propels the episodes forward. But oh boy! I am in LOVE with the way it depicts angels and demons. Most specifically Aziraphale and Crowley. I could put up with a cookie cutter plot that barely makes coherent sense for the way this series handles relationships. And the dialogue uses every word to build the world; the characters; and most importantly, their relationships.

Like with Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy, much of the (wonderful) book's humor stems from the author's description, something that's clearly difficult to translate properly into film. Here it does seem like they've deliberately toned down the humor, playing it more straight, but it still feels a bit off, sometimes downright sloppy in its execution. Sheen and Tennant are (as the entire world has already noted) quite brilliant, though, and as a whole it's a fine little miniseries.

Why did people get mad that Adam and Eve were black and not that the Garden of Eden wasn't in Independence Missouri? Bam, religious deep cut right there for ya. But it's not too long at only 6 episodes so it doesn't overstay its welcome. Sheen and Tennant are good leads. Pretty much a just alright enough to be worth watching show
