This started out very strong and exciting. Jarring scene changes and some bad acting. Lauren Cohan was hot and very good. Iko Uwais was excellent. Some of it felt chaotic or contrived. Wahlberg was not credible and annoying. Good music and film quality. Spoken foreign languages without subtitles. Some good fighting. Good dialog with some poor delivery. Nice twisty ending. Worth watching, but it could have been much better.

Interesting character for Wahlberg. Decent modern day espionage thriller, plenty of action with a big body count.

The Wahlberg/Berg duo have been a pleasure to watch, and while I do enjoy some things in here, it's definitely the worst of their collaborations. This is pretty by the books when it comes to its narrative, and that's unfortunate, because I do enjoy the action and performances of Wahlberg and Cohen. There just isn't anything particularly unique about this, nor does it do anything exceedingly well to make it memorable. It's a fine one time watch, but I wish there was more.

A balls to the walls action thriller that definitely laid the seeds for a potential series, it is highlighted by a fast talking Mark Wahlberg and violence in droves. The story is a simple one with a "twist" very near to the end. Other than the potential for more this film was formulaic but easy to jump into. A fun movie. Great acting. Great action. A lot of violence which may turn people away. Solid none the less though in my opinion as violence in film does not bother me in the slightest.

I think we got some groupthink going on here. The sterling action and rapid fire dialogue laced with humor hearkens back to "The Departed". The only real flaw is the guillotine ending where they leave the final footage and our heads on the cutting room floor. But unlike the cliffhangers of yore, we gotta wait 2 years for the next installment--if the box office justifies one at all.

Action is a genre that doesn't have to work hard in order for me to enjoy it to some degree, so keep that in mind as I say this is another completely okay action flick. Wahlberg is always enjoyable in this genre. Sometimes there was so much going on and yet it dragged a little. Uwais should be in every action movie, he is a star here. When the violence is happening it's actually quite entertaining, just everything else in between is poorly written and edited together.

I'm pretty split on this film. On the one hand I like the actors and thought they had good chemistry even if most were under used. The action was really gritty even if it had poor editing. The story structure was also a big plus. On the other hand it had a very TV feel which had me thinking it was some kind of big budget backdoor TV pilot. The editing during the non action scenes were unnecessarily choppy and full of close ups. Over all this was fun and I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel.

It's almost as if they didn't even try to make it worth the while. Put Wahlberg in it and people will watch it - I know I did... *Bad

Muddled, scattershot, boring and sloppy. Not that I was a fan of the (Wahl)Berg partnership, but this is their worst product by far.

If only they let Iko Uwais do the work and do the movie around him. That would be way better.

There's no impact to be seen, no fight choreography on display (that is, there may have been on set but the camera shies away from it), nothing to make up for the story flaws and make me say "well, that's worth the price of admission." Which is a damn shame and a massive bungle when Iko Uwais name should guarantee such action

Some good action but good grief was that bad dialogue - the back and forth horseshit that is so pleased with itself but may as well have been a parody of a Shane Black script. A We Hate Movies watch, not the worst thing I've seen for that reason

A taut, fast-paced thriller that utterly fails to surprise with its twist, even if it satisfies all the same (feels like the good guy won). Certain interspersed sequences (the Russians and Wahlberg's post-op interview) were necessary only to fill runtime, but tight direction prevented them from dragging down the whole. Iko Uwais was well used and a highlight.

When it's cutting between four different places in the span of 20 seconds it might be time to slow er down a bit. Can we plz collectively agree to not let Ronda Rousey be a thing in movies? Thnx

--Mile 22 is peak Wahlberg.-- It's actually kinda hard to tell the difference between this and a straight-to-video '90s action flick. I'll be damned if the generic action isn't the only thing the movie has going for it. Not to mention, almost every single character in the thing is irredeemably unlikable.

J'ai vu combattre Iko Uwais en caleçon et je ne remercierai jamais assez le réalisateur pour ça, il était le seul intérêt du film. Tout le reste est à jeter à la poubelle, du scénario bidon, aux scènes d'action horribles.

I guess Malkovich and Wahlberg needed some cash and they showed up. Not really worth it since they didn't even try to act interested. Or act at all.

A guy is in charge of driving another guy from one spot to another spot for a Very Important Reason, leading to a lot of Very Serious Talk and Very Serious Consequences. Seems like the principle relied upon here was speed: fast talking, fast hitting, fast guns and especially Very Fast Editing. Undoubtedly the highlight is John Malkovich reciting a quotation from Mencken defining the normal man.

Wahlberg is not a great actor but his style is certainly much more suited for somethin like this and it shows how far ahead he is in comparison to the rest of the cast. Why was John Malkovich in this?

first 2/3 were a waist of time imo. somewhat homeland-ish non-catchy bureaucratic mess mixed with some elements of drama, comedy, action adding zero to a simple plot. some bonus points for the cast.

Paper thin plot serves as little more than a vehicle for action. And some of the action is pretty cool, but it seems like this film was directed by a stunt coordinator rather than an actual director. Mark Wahlberg makes the film significantly better than it would have been, as most of the other performances are flat.

Some of the fights (both gun and hand-to-hand) were pretty cool and has a Mission: Impossible vibe, but the choppy editing gave me a headache and the dialog and rediculous monologues were almost satirical.

Despite the lousy editing and the excessive close-up mise-en-scene — Uwais deserved a better director for his action scenes —, it is one of the best Wahlberg vehicles in recent times — hos character is basically a sociopath working for the government. It works as a conspiracy spy thriller until the final twist kind of ruins the whole damn thing. Lauren Cohan is also a highlight here.

The script is all over the place for this movie. The actors do a good job but they can't make up the damage done by the weak script. Overall this film is disappointing.

Already not being a huge fan of Whalberg, I was pretty much destined to hate this movie. It's him being an arrogant know-it-all in literally every characters face, whether they're on his side or not. The general idea is good and the action is very well done, but it wasn't worth sitting through a movie with a hugely unlikable protagonist, subplots that lead nowhere, and an ending that was so bleak it just made the movie a waste of time.
