Coming from the guy who brought the world both "The Godfather" and "Jack," this one is as much a mixed bag as Coppola's repitoire as a whole. As for time travel movies both "Back to the Future" and "Somewhere in Time" had bettered this one in the same decade. And so far as acting goes Kathleen Turner's good performance is balanced out by a hilariously terrible one from Cage. It's almost as if he knew that he'd become a parody of himself ahead of time, maybe time travel really was involved.

Kathleen Turner really makes this movie go. I was really impressed with the way she handled the role. And even though this movie was marketed as a comedy, it is more dramatic with some funny events. It was also really cool to see Jim Carrey, Kevin J. O'Connor and John Carradine. Nicolas Cage though... well I almost turned this off several times he was on screen. That voice was nauseating to listen to.

The real plot of the movie must be all these guys going back in time to bang Kathleen Turner before she looks like she does today.

This movie goes by like that, I felt that I had only sat down for five minutes when it finished. This doesn't happen to me often, but Coppola obviously knew how to make a pleasent film go down just the right way.

It's not stunningly fantastic, but it's a good movie for just about anyone. It's also a chance to see a lot of today's popular actors playing high-school kids. For the most part, the time travel aspect gives it a nice flare, and most of the movie is quite enjoyable. Pretty good!

While it's fun to travel back to the 50s and see a bunch of older actors pretending to be teenagers, this film is painfully short on both purpose and message. Time travel and body swap were both done much better by other directors in the 80s.

A blatant copy of Back to the Future. But that movie was soo good, that this one largely succeeds by basically being an adult oriented rip off.

One of the least original premises imaginable (time travel back to high school!), and the main character wastes it by: 1. Being slightly less hateful to the nerds than she was the first time, 2. Passive-Aggressively tormenting her future ex-husband, and 3. Sleeping around as much as possible. The remainder of the cast is about as likable as a jar of spiders in your lunchbox. Completely dead-on-arrival movie.

I like to think of this movie as Back to the Future for girls. That movie had lots of what a guy would want in a time travel movie - discussion of the mechanics of time travel, accidentally changing the past and having to fix it, lots of stunts and action scenes. This movie is simply about a woman who regrets her choices in life, and how she needs to travel back to high school to remember that she really does love her husband, and wouldn't have done it differently.

Pretty ham fistedly handled but its still a fairly entertaining little fantasy piece.

Coppola returns to his youth for this strangely inert trip down memory lane. Turner plays Peggy Sue with the right mix of vulnerability and maturity, and the most pleasing timewarp effects derive from her anachronistic thoughts and behaviour, which is a refreshing change from the usual reliance on obvious pop cultural signposts in fluffy retro films. The problem: it's too heavy for a romance and too lightweight for a drama, and it doesn't fully capitalize on the possibilities of its premise.

Heavy for a romance, light for a drama--not very effective either way.

Considering that this came before the flurry of time travelling movies this works very well. A sort of life's retrospective with several decent sub-plots

This movie was hilarious. It was heavier than the typical romantic comedy. There were many real moments. What's with Nick Cage's voice?

Turner's radiant star-power bolsters this pleasant, often wistful film, whose script leaves far too many plot threads dangling. Cage's annoying performance as the boyfriend is another debit.

A woman travels back in time to... I don't know. The movies overall message is unclear and while Kathleen Turner is fine actingwise, her characters motivation is all over the place. Speaking of all over the place, Nic Cage gives one of the weirdest performances of his live. So, yay?

Kathleen Turner travels back in time 25 years where everyone in her high school looks and acts more or less the same as they do in present day. Then she... does some random things with no real consequence. A very odd, and oddly uneventful movie. Points of interest: early Jim Carrey schtick, early wacko Nicolas Cage.

Prime early Cage. For 80s coming of age/romance I'd take it over Sixteen Candles any day, and probably over Pretty in Pink.

In most time-travel stories, the protagonist tends to force a lot of changes, hoping that one will be the right one that "sticks." Here, though, PS seems rather calculated in her almost minor deviations. Turner's performance is about the only highlight as the script wanders between drama and comedy, squeezing in a pretty predictable romance.

This film has a good cast, Kathleen Turner excels in the lead role. The script has some good moments the ending could have a bit more satisfying. Overall I would recommend this film.

Kathleen Turner gives an enjoyable turn as the time-traveling "teen" who's getting too old for this shit, and Nic Cage's outright weirdness is a sight to behold. But ultimately the character motivations and the moral of the story remain a bit muddled.

Some might criticize this as overly schmaltzy and sentimental, and I wouldn't even argue with them that much, but I can be a softie at times and this one hit the spot for me in a lot of ways. A fun premise, well executed, and I got misty eyed more than once. This is usually totally buried in Coppola's filmography, understandably so given his greatest triumphs, but I think it's a lot better than many give it credit for and it deserves to be better remembered.

Now, the plot isn't very surprising and the story isn't very original, but the aesthetics and the way it's done make this a pretty great ride, if you ask me. It's so weird how well the melodrama between Nicolas Cage and Kathleen Turner works, even with this ridiculous voice he's doing. Kathleen Turner, man...what a performance. And pairing her with oddball Cage wasn't the worst idea either. Coppola proves he is the king of atmosphere once again.

Some things don't fit, and the lingering unanswered questions bother me perhaps more than they should, but this is quite a bit of fun, once I got past Cage's voice. Turner is great, Carrey commands the screen as he always does. I'm a sucker for inexplicable time travel done well, and this one surprised me.
