Vile, misanthropic, mean-spirited trash. Contains not a single likable character nor any humor to speak of. Just thinking about it turns my stomach.

A tasteless movie that revels in the obnoxious behavior of an utterly irritating and unsympathetic brat.

One of those rare movies that I'm legitimately shocked was ever made. How could dozens of studio execs, writers, and actors, think this was funny and/or a good idea? Presumably, someone thought people would pay money to see this, and I would love to ask them, "WHO? Who did you expect to pony up cash for THIS?!" The true definition of a Tier 1 movie, for me, in that it's not only a terrible, incompetently made movie, but it's also morally reprehensible and intellectually bankrupt. Offensive.

A movie made by misanthropes, for misanthropes - a cast of sociopathic characters all act horrible to each other, and for some reason this is passed off as entertainment for kids.

There's a fascinating tone of anti-comedy here. All the intended humor either stems from making fun of poor John Ritter because he aspires to be a good father (what a silly notion!), or the annoying kid causing mischief of a brand that is in no way amusing because it is so twisted. I'd like to know what the rejected kid actors were like if this one was the best they found. Add a serial killer subplot, and you've got yourself a perfect movie for kids! A memorable failure.

I saw this shit in the theater as a kid and thought it was kind of amusing at the time even if it was a cheap knock off of Home Alone. I would hate to watch it now though.

Mean-spirited and hopelessly short on comic invention, Problem Child is a particularly unpleasant comedy, one that's loaded with manic scenery chewing and juvenile pranks.

A married couple who cannot have children adopts seven-year-old Junior. However, the boy appears to have an aversion to order combined with a sickly sense of humor, which leads to a nuisance for everyone who comes near him.

An old childhood favourite that doesn't quite work as well today, but there are still some dumb laughs to be had in this farcical comedy that lampoons modern parenting. The over the top acting suits the material, and the talented cast sells it. Ritter is very likeable as the dad with a strong paternal instinct, and Yasbeck is amusingly bitchy as his status driven wife. Richards also shines in a pre-fame role and Warden is reliably cantankerous as Big Ben. The sequels are best avoided.

A favorite film of mine growing up, I can only imagine the pain and suffering it must have inflicted on my parents. Noticeable for starring John Ritter, this film should largely be forgotten.

The kid is bad, too bad really. Could possibly have been a good story, but the stupid plot, ridiculous script and idiotic campy acting make it feel like a waste of time. Aside from several chuckles there are no big belly laughs to be had. This movie fails to connect, fails to set up anything truly hilarious and is mostly just stupid, tiresome and annoying. But still, I somehow made it through to the end, but not quite sure how though, since it actually gets worse as it goes along.

Problem Child is definitely a movie of it's time. The story of Problem Child is the story of modern parenting practices. It looks at the differences between raising a child without rules and how that will impact different children differently. Some children need rules but some children, like Junior, need to be left to their own devices and they need to learn that the choices they make effect other people. There are a lot of easy jokes in this movie but it also had some redeeming qualities al

Sure, the point of the movie was that the kid is obnoxious, but making it the focus only enhances how annoying it is. Crap!
