An absolutely marvelous look at nature with incredible shots and sequences. Sigourney Weaver is wonderful as the narrator as is the ever excellent David Attenborough. Movie making at its finest.

An absolute epic series. What Carl Sagan's "Cosmos" is to the universe, Planet Earth is to our pale blue dot. These guys truly knew they were making something magnificent and their hard work and dedication really payed off. Every single shot is beautiful and leaves you completely breathless.

I never would have guessed just how engrossing our planet could be until I saw it for myself. It's so easy to lose yourself in this masterpiece you might think the filmmakers have put a spell on you. But than again, maybe they did.

One of the most impressive nature documentaries ever made. It looks absolutely stunning, Attenborough's narration is engaging and every episode is well constructed both as a self contained examination of its own topic and as a piece of the larger puzzle of life on earth.

Very impressive nature series narrated by Attenborough that should be seen on Blu-ray rather than DVD. Scientific content is middling, as these very large-scale series tend to summarise and survey topics rather than delving too deeply into the complex biological details. But what it does it does extremely well. The viewer's appreciation is almost inevitably tempered by a sense that the series may be documenting the remarkable complexity of a biodiversity that may have a very finite future.

Worth the watch! Sure, it’s a bit over-dramatic at times and I wish it delved more into the science stuff, but the visuals are mind-blowing. It's really a beautiful piece of art that also got me thinking about the world differently. Really enjoyed it in HD.

The narration, the camerawork, the subject matter... everybody knows it's a breathtakingly beautiful series. If I had to complain about something though, it's that the narration (or atleast Attenborough's) somehow still manages to be sexist, unloading human gender roles and norms unto animals who can't even understand the concept. Minor complaint though, still an absolutely beautiful experience.

It was fantastic experience watching this wonderful story about our beloved planet. Attenborough's narration is one of a kind as always, you can see he is working with passion. Its shame when you think about how capitalism and modern society is slowly destroying this spectacular nature that we were blessed with on this planet.

Once again, David Attenborough and the BBC Natural History unit outdo themselves with the most ambitious, epic and brilliantly executed documentary of life on Earth to date. Every part is considered and even-handed in painstaking detail without ever losing sight of either the bigger picture or the sheer wonder of nature itself. A must-see.

A beautifully rendered cinematic experience of the truly majestic quality of nature. Although not as educational or objective on our potential role as nature's protectors, it nevertheless delivers some of the most stunning film of the wild to date. Attenborough is a true champion of looking beyond our own race and at the creatures with which we share the planet, his enthusiasm and passion for doing this having universal reach (excluding the US, for whom narration by an actor is sufficient).

A majestic, utterly captivating series that probably makes all the series that followed redundant – this does feel like the final, all encompassing word on the different flora and fauna of the planet, with Attenborough’s steady but passionate narration a perfect throughline. Chief star of this is of course the stunning and startling imagery, which should be viewed on the largest screen (and highest resolution) possible for full effect. A genuinely enthralling and moving experience.

not a big fan of the forced melodrama they obviously edit in there for the sake of giving the drooling idiots something that keeps them hooked. "duuuuh, is the penguin gonna make it to the sea? yay!" it's nature, it's overwhelming on its own accord. the shots and production are out of this world though, and you can't really fathom just how much endless hours of material they selected them out of.
