It's basically Arrested Development but as a drama... except this is still hilarious. Season two is a huge improvement over the already strong first season, season 3 is somehow even better, and holy fuck season 4 is front-to-back phenomenal. They went out at the top of their game. Incredible stuff.

While it pales in comparison to a greater and much, much sharper somewhat similar show like 'The Thick of It', this became pretty enganging for me about half a season in. The score is amazing (particularly the catchy main theme), and Brian Cox is on fire, but for me the MVPs are Braun and MacFadyen. In a show peopled with smug, deluted and incredibly unlikeable characters, these guys aren't just the only ones worth rooting for, they're often, especially when they're interacting, extremely funny.

Absolutely brilliant. I love that you can't really consider this a comedy, or even a dark comedy, yet it's one of the funniest shows on tv. With an ensemble of top shelf characters and performances, somehow Matthew MacFadyen still stands above the rest with one of the all-time great performances.

For some reason I enjoyed 2021 mini series "Maid" much more than this. I wonder why ... maybe the lives of rich and despicable people are just not that interesting

The beginning of S3 where Logan says "You wanna suck my dick?" to his own son while getting into a car he's denying to share made me laugh maybe the hardest I've ever laughed at a work of fiction. Just incredible writing and performances from everyone, I'd put this as the 2nd best HBO show after The Sopranos. The only nitpick I have is that the S3 finale is better than the series finale imo (which is also practically perfect). Oh and Connor Roy was interested in politics from a very young age.

Irritable camera-work spoiled a lot for me. Did they really need to zoom in and out and shake in every scene? Other than that, it felt overwhelming in some parts. Finale was overdone but at least the resolution was kinda alright.

Incredible character development and camera work kept me hooked! The real brilliance lies in how it captures the raw hunger, emptiness, and the often-meaningless grind of life, even when their issues are worlds apart from ours. Despite knowing I'll never be 'that rich' or face their problems, I still found myself relating to the underlying struggles. Team Kendall all the way—and long live 'Egg the Greg!' This show is a masterpiece.

Strong initial seasons set the stage for the ridiculousness that follows. Its amazing cast and sharp writing keeps everything flowing nicely. The only miss is some of the story lines seem a bit repetitive , but it is supposed to be told that way. One of the better shows in the last decade.

It's so good to despise all of them and bask in all the curses they bring upon themselves simply because they see themselves as the elite. Most actors are giving stellar performances too. Kieran Culkin was a revelation to me. I was less enthused by Jeremy Strong but he got better as the show progressed.

I don't even necessarily WANT to give this a perfect score, but I'm at a loss finding something to criticize that actually detracts from the show's quality. It lasts exactly as long as it needs to, every episode feels vital to the story, compelling us further into this dysfunctional family, and some of that might've been marred if anywhere else in the production slipped up, but the cast, music, pacing -- everything is executed flawlessly. Succession will be studied and revered for a long time.

A cheap 'Billions' rider, holding onto the coat tails of that great, intelligent, witty show about family and relationships and industry. I just feel it fails to meet the character interest that 'Billions' had going for it. Succession's characters are one-dimensional, placed on the stage to interact the way they were intended to and it's more of a drama n that way. Billions characters were real, they were based on Traders and that lifestyle and was accurate about the law.

the show fell off in the final season tho. at some point it turned into a show about the characters themselves in a way that seems to have forgotten why the show was so good in the first place. i didn't keep watching through the seasons because i was invested in these characters' personal lives. the show's scope narrowed but it seems like they thought they were still doing something (they reeaally phoned it in with the election story line). did they lose a key writer for season 4 or something?

Reminiscent of Game of Thrones as much as current headlines and the bible - though it ties those incredibly different things with its own cynical humor. It also (so far) avoids most of the flaws of those other stories. If it can stick the landing, it might go down as one of the defining portrayals of our times.

Season 1 is a revelation chronicling the dysfunction of legacy wealth through an empathetic but honest lens. The characters are fabulously sketched out and the dark comedy rolls over drama to snowball into some very tense final episodes. It loses much of its focus in Season 2 and meanders around current events in a far more episodic fashion--while there is more levity, it just isn't as addicting as S1. Frankly, it starts to get a little boring by the S2 finale.

(spoilers) The pro meritocracy ending seems out of touch with reality to me, but I guess that in the end the series was really a (very well done) family drama with nothing deep to say.

S1- An enjoyable exposé on the family of a media company, though with far, far more focus on the family side than the business side -- I'm okay with that, but it'd still be great to see more of them contending with the dying medium that is television. Does feel like it's a bit too smug about its brash dialogue and character mannerisms at times, though the last few episodes (which each felt very singular in their own concept/setting) kept this fresh for me.
